Cab to universal?

Anyone know how much a cab to universal is? I know there is a bus, but just incase we forget to book that 24hrs in advance i want to be prepared

It will be about $40 each way. The distance is about 17 miles and cabs are $3.85 for the first mile and then $2.20 per mile.

Be sure if you use the bus to leave yourself plenty of time. We booked the bus and going took 20-30 mins but returning took us over 2 hours and we almost missed our dinner reservations. We left Universal at 5 and didn't make it back to AKL until 7.

In 2010, we were 7 going from the All Star Movies to Universal. The night before, we went to the front desk to make arrangements. They had a mini van meet us right in front of the entrance.... I think it was a Mears cab. As a pp mentioned, it was just under $40.00 (3 yrs. ago). Going back to the hotel, we just left Universal and followed the signs for "TAXIS". Within a few minutes, we were settled in another mini van.

It was great - no waiting for a bus.....waiting while people are picked up from the different hotels..... and then the same on the trip home.

Our course, if you are only 2 or 3 people, it might be more costly. For us being 7, it was cheaper by cab. Keep in mind that the bus price includes a pass. We ordered our tickets from, darn I can't remember the name. It wasn't Undercover Tourist. A friend had recommended them to us. We had the tickets delivered to the ASM for our arrival. It was definitely cheaper for us this way.

It all worked perfectly.
