Hello-
We are planning to get off and scoot right to MCO after debarking for a 12:50 flight. If the Budget shuttle is packed, and it will be a while before it gets us on, DH may take a cab, pick up the car, and come back for us. Has anyone done this, and what would the approximate cost be?

I am not sure about the cab, but Budget has two shuttles and they are very quick picking up people and dropping them off, you really have to be ready for them.

The budget shuttle starts running at 7:30am, or that is what we were told when we needed to use it. Call to double check. Your hubby could leave the ship early, catch the shuttle, go get your car, you could grab a porter, get the luggage and meet your hubby out front. I don't think you will have to worry about a cab..you should be good to go.

That would work except for the fact that Customs make you go through as a group. He would look a little suspicious going through with no luggage. I usually recommend if the shuttle is packed that one person go and bring the vehicle back. Like stated, they start early and it only takes them 10-15 mins for a round trip

We used Budget after our cruise. After we all got off the ship, my husband took the shuttle and came back for the kids and I. He was only gone about 20 minutes! We loaded up the car and were off. It really was very quick and smooth.

Good luck and have FUN!!!

We had no problem with debarkation or Budget last time. I think I'm more time conscious this time because of out 12:50 flight time. I know it SHOULD be fine, but it seems like my family has been plagued with bad luck this year. I am hoping '07 will be MUCH better. I've just read a few posts that describe getting out in the AM a nightmare, so I was getting a bit nervous--especailly because we are cruising Feb. vacation week. I'm thinking of the cab as a back up plan, but I like the idea of if the shuttle is almost full, DH can get on the shuttle and we'll wait. I can stare at the ship and get shocked back into reality. (I HATE reality shock!!) :scared1:

Just thought of something else, and I can't remember from last time....
Should we tip the shuttle driver?

Yes, you usually tip the shuttle driver.

I have a similar dilemma for our Oct. 28th return from the Western cruise. I called Budget and they said they open at 7:30 and dispatch the first shuttle at 7:30. They also said that to get out faster, you should keep your bags in the room with you - don't put them in the hall the night before. I plan to ask my SH about this first though.. They said if we do hop a cab, it is about $8.

I think we will keep our bags. We didn't on our last DCL, and it wasn't too bad getting them, but if it saves us a few minutes, it's worth it. We did keep them on our last RCCL, and it really was no big deal. We are also planning on grabbing a quick bite to eat at Topsiders and bringing it to the room while we get ready.

You could always just book a DCL bus transfer to the airport ... that is the way we do it. We do the rental car on the way to the port, but the bus is so nice and convenient to jump on if you're in a hurry to the airport. They grab your bags and off you go.

How much are the one way transports? Also, are you guaranteed to get on the first bus or two? (We avoid the DCL transports because of the cost for the 5 of us.)

I think I'll stick with the rental. We're only paying $45 for it, and I think we'll be fine for a 12:50 flight. We'll just be sure that all toiletries etc. get put in our primary bags, and our carry ons are very light.
