Hi,
We are staying off-site this year and may not get a rental car, as the rates are ridiculous.....so far.... Does anyone have any idea how much cab fare would be from Universal park area to either Caravan CT or top of International Drive area (i,e. the off-site resorts closest to Universal)...Just in case, would like to have an idea.....

TIA!!!!

How long are you staying? I agree that a rental car for a week can be expensive, but if it's only a few days, then you can do it.
Yes, the rental car costs more, and you pay for gas and parking. But the convience factor makes up for it. You can visit grocery stores, drive to SWF, and the restaurants on I-drive. Plus I have my web pages to help you.

Here are the offsite hotels across the street. Most of these are within walking distance.

Here's the Publix grocery store a mile to the north.

I am staying in I-Drive and I suppose the best way to get to WDW is to use the cab? I know tht I-drive doesnt have any free shuttle to WDW. So cab? Especially night time, after spending all day in WDW + after dinner.

We utilized the public transportation heavily and loved it! The ITrolley does not go all the way to Disney-- it's true BUT you take the ITrolley to Seaworld and then cross the street and catch Lynx bus 50 takes you to the TTC at Disney.
Both run till at least 11 p.m. We caught the cab back to the hotel from Disney as we were at the Halloween party and it wasn't bad. $20 to the north end of IDrive.
Also, we caught a free hotel shuttle to Universal both days we went. Got on and to the park just as it opened and then caught the bus back to the hotel at 7 p.m. More than enough time to do the park. If you're staying later, course you can take a cab. Our hotel was right next to Skull Kingdom on IDrive (north end) probably about a mile and some from Universal. You could hoof it if you had to to I drive. We could see the Universal parking ramp from our hotel.

Thank-you.

If we are close enough--we might try walking first...Wish me luck getting across the 10 lane highway--that may surpass any thrill from theme park rides that day!!!!!!! We may also try the cab--not bad for $20-$30 round trip!!!!

How bout cab from Idrive area to MCO airport?
Do car rental companies at the airport come and pick us up for free when I rent car from them?

The beauty is you won't have to worry about it! Somehow the parking lots merge across the highway and you're in City Walk without seeing a car!
Very nice set up. So if you start out on the right hand side of the street, you'll be fine. Have a great time! We LOVED Islands of Adventure and Universal. Disney was a treat but not as exciting for us. It's meant for really young children, I guess. IOA was awesome. Dueling Dragons was the best!!
Both Fire and Ice. Characters everywhere!
