CAA Discount - Is this a good deal?

Hi All,

Just got a CAA quote for the following:

7 nights - October 25, 2008 - November 1, 2008
3 people - me, my hubby and my 5 year old son
- Disney dining plan
- 7 day Park Hopper w Waterpark and more
- Staying at the CBR
- inludes Magical Express transfer to/from airport in Orlando

Total price - $2673 USD

They charge $80 to book flights through CAA so went to the Air Tran site and found direct flights for all 3 of us for $612 including tax out of Detroit. That would make the total package price $3285. That's better than the rate I've been quoted through Disney but I've never booked through CAA before so not sure if that's a good deal. Has anyone else ever booked through CAA to Disney - does that sound like a good deal? They said that if Disney releases codes at a later date that we qualify for that they would apply them. Is that true? I've never booked a trip through a travel agency so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I can't say if it's a good deal.. a good indicator is if it is cheaper than the Disney website for the same thing.

BUT -- I can say.. that..

They said that if Disney releases codes at a later date that we qualify for that they would apply them.

If Disney releases either a public code, or if you get a discount in the mail that will mean a better discount for you.. CAA should apply that without trouble.

Find out their cancellations policies just to be safe.

You don't need to book through CAA to get a CAA/AAA discount -- Any TA (or booking through Disney directly) can have the CAA/AAA discount code applied. Also, anyone can have a discount code applied.

Actually if you are booking a formal Magic Your Way package like the OP .. you MUST book thru CAA to get the discount.

If you are booking room only, you can book thru Disney direct or ANY travel agent and get the CAA/AAA room discount.

This is correct. Try checking the Disney World website and compare prices to find out a good deal, and ask your TA about the CAA/AAA Benefits that you get by booking with them.

I would ask the TA to break it down for you. Then you can go online and find the prices for each item individually. CAA will give you between 10-20% off the room, a slight discount on the park passes plus a few other perks like the AAADiamond card that don't really have much monetary value.

Compared to what I have paid in the past for trips it sounds pretty good. I pride myself on getting the best deals possible on travel. It's become an obsession. In fact I've given myself tendonitis from being on the computer too much:laughing:

They can't give you a breakdown because it isn't provided to them. But, it is pretty easy to price out the package yourself through Disney and then compare it to the same package at CAA.

Don't mean to argue.... but CAA certainly can give you a break down. I was in the office 3 weeks ago and the agent gave me a quote, in writing, that had it all itemized. They get the room price from Disney over the phone and then look up the price of the passes that you want and add in the dining plan.

Wow - thanks everyone this is great information. I think I'm going to try to get an itemized cost breakdown. I did go to the Disney site and put the same package together myself and it was approx. $400 more.

I too am obsessed with finding the best deal so I'll keep searching!
