For those who have paid at CAA Ontario (AAA Travel) for Disney Vacation packages,

1). Do you get an official receipt? I didn't get one except a normal computer printout (iternary) and a confirmation number.

2). Do you buy Trip cancellation insurance? If yes, do you buy from CAA? We had bought medical insurance but not sure about trip cancellation - i think that does not cover flight delays, stolen/lost/damages luggages...

Hi, I and my family are planning for a Vacation Traveling from Minnesota by car. We are going to tour on vacation in a few weeks. We would like to drive and go somewhere with attractions for both adults and children. We are willing to travel any distance though we only have 7 days that we can be gone. Any suggestions and tips on this topic will be great appreciated.

I have not purchased a Disney package through CAA. When I booked with a Disney Specialist TA, I got a copy of the receipt from Disney with my reservation information on it. For any and all questions about your documents, the CAA agent that assisted you *should* be able to answer them and provide you with any additional documents you might require.
When you check in at a WDW resort the CM at the Front Desk usually asks for your name, your driver's license and a credit card. I suppose if there is a problem, they might use the confirmation number, but I have never been asked for one. I have even offered to give them the confirmation number, and they have told me they don't need it. I have never had problems (five trips, seven different check ins - we switched resorts a couple of times).
Definitely bring your contact info for CAA with you - if there is any problem you will want to get in touch with them. But honestly I don't think you'll have any problems.
As for insurance...this is entirely up to you. If there is anyone who has a risk of getting ill in your party, and this would cause your trip to be cancelled, or if you can think of any valid reason you might need to cancel your trip (by valid, I mean a reason that would be covered by the insurance) then it's worthwhile. Definitely check what the cancellation policy is with the package you have purchased through CAA, so you know how far in advance you have to cancel in order to avoid as many penalties if something does go wrong. I don't know specifically about the insurance CAA offers, but there is a good site where you can compare different kinds of travel insurance. That site is:
http://www.insuremytrip.ca/

The computer printout/itinerary is your official receipt. You can ask for a copy of the Disney one if you would like and she can provide that. You will get hotel voucher etc to use at check in with your final documents. They are shipped to CAA 2-3 weeks prior to departure.

Vacation package insurance is what includes medical, cancellation/interupption baggage etc. Its personal preference to purchase insurance or not, ask your TA what your loss would be if you had to cancel last minute (disney is very reasonable, but with flights etc) and then decide.

Trip cancellation/interruption would cover flight delays but not loss baggage.

Hope this helps.
