Can someone recommend a good watch/stopwatch so that I can time the intervals? Something that would be relatively easy to deal with while running?

It's not exactly what you were asking. But I'm using the iPhone/iPod Touch app by Felt Tip.

It lets me know where I am in the current segment and the entire run at a glance. It gives me audio cues to run and walk. It also plays nicely with the music app and Pandora.
I attempted to start this program and am having problems from day 1. I feel like such a failure. I think I may have to modify the program for me. Some of the medications I did while on chemo destroyed my lung capacity (long term side effect) so I think it just may take me longer.I could only do 5 of the 8 jogging cycles. I am going to try to make myself eat better, drink more during the day and take a vitamin to see if that helps at least with the dizziness I feel. I really hope I can finish this program within 3 months.
I started this thing 4 times and quit 3 of them. Not this time I told myself when I started it up again 7 weeks ago. Yesterday I did w8d1 and you know what? It actually does it easier as you go. Don't get me wrong, the running time does increase and you feel it, but I never thought I could run for 30 minutes non-stop. I remember feeling like I was going to keel over when doing w1d1. Of course my timing isn't exactly the greatest and I have 5k scheduled for this weekend before ending the program. But next week I will do week 9! After that who knows?Maybe the "Gateway To The 8k'. We'll see.
Good luck on the 5K next weekend.
