Bypassing front desk??

If you don't like where your room is or have another issue, can you go to the front desk and ask for change in location if you use this system?

Of course. This way is only for providing your info ahead of time so you don't have to do it at the counter. Name, number, info, card to put on the account, etc.

It's nothing more than just providing your info ahead of time so you don't have to stand in line at the hotel. For anything else though you'll need to go to the front desk

We loved this feature and it works flawlessly for us in April. We had a late-ish flight and when we stepped off the plane and headed for baggage claim, the text with our room number, etc ... came through! I don't think, however, it necessarily gets you a room earlier or more quickly. It's just a convenience, if you know your room isn't ready yet, you can plan accordingly.

ETA, I think this feature really appeals to certain people and might not work for others. I'm not so choosey about room location, etc.... in 40 odd years of travel, I don't think I've ever asked to change rooms. If you are a person who is very particular and knows in advance that you will probably want to at least try for a certain room, then I don't think I'd bother with this feature!

On my latest trip, I got my text at 1:30p which was even before my flight took off from Atlanta that day. I was pleased. I got to the resort, dropped off my carryon in my room and headed to DHS for the rest of the day easy to do since they closed at 8pm that night.

I did have to track down my luggage - even though I'd gotten to the resort by 3:30p, my luggage didn't get delivered until 9:30p and that was after I went to Bell Services to make sure they had it. I was told they were running behind and they'd bring it right up to me which they did.

i received an email saying I could skip check in and they would text me when my room was ready, but will they text me as soon as an available room is available or will I be waiting around until 3 pm. We are doing a split stay so being able to go to the park and wait for a text would be much easier then driving all the way to our second hotel at 6 am and then hitting the park, but we are planning a break for 1 o clock and if our chances of getting a room that early are less by not going to front desk I would rather check in as normal, anyone experienced bypassing my check in yet? I put my approximate arrival time is 6 am do they usually look at that?

When we went a couple weeks ago, I put our arrival time as 9am. When our flight landed at 9:30 and I turned my phone back on, I got the text that our room was ready. When ME brought us to the hotel we talked to the lady outside on the sidewalk and she verified that we had set up room charging, had our room number and were all set. She handed us a map of the resort and we were in our room just a couple minutes later.

I'd guess that unless your room has to wait for someone else to check out that morning, it will be ready first thing. Maybe not at 6, but I would think you'd be good for 1:00 like you are planning for sure, unless the resort is really close to capacity the night before.

what about the parking pass - do you still get one when staying onsite or do they just scan your MB at the toll booth? I like the parking pass just show it and go - scanning a MB would be IMO more time consuming

Received a paper pass at AoA on 4/30, but they still scanned our band every time we drove in. BC would not give us a paper pass on 5/3, even though we requested one. I found the MB readers to be very slow at almost all the resorts. However, driving through the gates to MK/MK resort area, they never scanned the band, just waved us through when they saw us wearing them.
