Might anyone know a way to get to Disney World without having to go thru Tampa from Clearwater? Just thought I would ask as you all have been so helpful when I had to travel from Indiana.

Thanks a bunch, SG:wave2:

Whatever other option there is will surely take longer than just getting on I-4 in Tampa.I've taken highway 50 which runs from Orlando through Clermont and reaching I-75 so you could take I-75 north to reach Hwy 50,however it is not faster as it's longer and there is plenty of street lights,an hour to hour and fifteen minute drive on I-4 could take close to two hours or more.Simply put if you're worried about traffic around Tampa,I would stop worrying about it as I've driven from Orlando to Tampa and back well over a hundred times using I-4 and except for two times there was an accident the trip has been pretty easy.Even when leaving around rush hour the traffic moved well enough. There could be another secret route someone else knows about and I would like to know if there is one but if time is a concern between I-4 and hwy 50 I-4 will be faster 99 out of 100 times.I think one night without traffic I made it from the Disney area to the I-75 I-4 interchange in less than an hour, usually it'll be in the 1 hour 15 minute range or 1 hour 30 minutes if you hit a bit if traffic. Those two times I encountered accidents I believe it took me around 2 hours.

No need to bypass Tampa from Clearwater. The real problem may be in Clearwater itself, depending on when you are leaving. Several years ago it took us a real long time just to get out of Clearwater because of the traffic. Once we got over to Tampa things were fine on I-4.

Ditto. What time of year is it going to be?
