Bye Bye to FW Specific Merchandise

We spent the weekend at FW and we were talking to some of the CMs at both trading posts and they told us that because of the economy they are doing away with merchandise that is specific to certain resorts -- FW is one of them. They will keep merchandise that has a few of the larger hotels, but will do away with FW logo merchandise. It was our suggestion that they get more stuff so we were really sad to hear once this stuff is gone, it's gone.

Man, that royally SUCKS!!! I buy but loads of crap when we go. I hope they still have some left in oct. Matt needs a new shirt. And I have lost most of my pens LOL.

oh noooooooo...........we have the kids making a list of some special they want to get...a magnet, a pencil, a keychain.....they (and myself) will be heartbroken, especially since it will be our first visit to the Fort in October!!!!

And, really, just a side note, if the "economy is so crappy" at Disney, then why is it so hard to get a reservation.....anywhere on property within a 6 or 8 month window.....just curious

IMHO...I don't think the economy has anything to do with it. I think it's because the trinkets are priced too high & the clothing is so cheaply made and overpriced. I used to get FtW shirts & jackets all the time when they were well made. In the last 5 or so years I haven't felt like spending $30+ on a t-shirt with material so thin you can see my cellulite through it!!

To be sure...they will probably still sell coffee mugs, post cards & pins. Those are cheap to produce & the mark-up is over the top. They also market well.

Considering the accuracy of CM info, this falls into the category of "I'll believe it when I see it" for me. I seriously doubt all FW logo merchandise is going to be eliminated - there is a market for it. So, I'll wait and see.

I so hope you're right. For some reason, I've not been drawn to purchase any other resort material, but I do have a list of FW merchandise I want.
