Yesterday was the last performance of Fiddler on the Roof. At least, it was for me and the 9 others who are not going to do the show when it moves to another city about an hour away. It's so weird that the show will continue on without me!
I enjoyed doing this show- it had one of the friendliest casts I've ever worked with.
The kids were great. In fact, I found myself hanging out with the handful of middle schoolers more often than the adults and other college aged people. The kids were all sad about my leaving the show and asked for my email 'n such. I also got much of the cast to sign my program. The adults were actually really sweet too and I exchanged email with some of them as well. I found out yesterday that the woman playing Yente went to college with Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth!
As for amusing stories....well, there was the time last week when I went to sing my solo line and miss the cue to start singing! It was awful...I just stood there wide-eyed trying to come in. The only part I got out was the last part of the line "I just heard that Hodel's been arrested in Kiev!" At the time, I was rather bummed for the rest of the performance. But all is good because that's the only time that happened.
Here's one that will be my fav funny moment. During the very last moment of the show when we are all leaving Anatevka, my "husband" usually carries a wooden crate. Well, the other night, his box was accidentally on the wrong side of the stage so instead, he grabbed the butterchurn that's used in act one! The whole time we criss-crossed the stage, I could not stop laughing because it looked as if all our worldly possessions were in a butterchurn! Luckily, I had a shawl on to cover my mouth.
I brought my camera yesterday when we had a photo call so once the roll is finished and I get them developed, I'll share them with all of you!
