You need to re-title this "20 new restaurants - shops - and - rides". Not a lot on the ride front from what I read.

It's actually pretty disappointing - we can count on EPCOT and DHS having zero upgrades for the next 4 years...and a total of 4, yes only 4, new rides (and not all will be E-ticket) for 4 years and 1 of these rides is a delayed one from New Fantasyland, so really it's 3 new rides for 4 years. That's not even 1 per year for 4 parks. With regular amusement parks having 1 per year, Disney is falling way behind the curve and resting on its previous dominance...EPCOT and DHS will be ghost towns by 2017...

I normally go about every other year. Looking at that list, after my trip in January, it looks like the next trip in late 2016 - early 2017 should be to California. My first trip there was right before Cars Land opened.

That would entail adding rides/attractions, which doesn't bring Disney immediate revenue. Therefore, I won't be shocked in the least if it never happens.

Team Orlando is, has been (since Eisner left), and will continue to rest on it's laurels until the theme park attendance reports are released for 2015 and the 2 Universal Orlando parks are outdrawing Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. By that time, my guess is, the embarrassment factor will set in and the poop will hit the fan.

I love Disney but I don't think it needs more shops and restaurants, although I would definitely go to Walt's Place.
I think it needs new innovative, exciting rides and attractions. Pandora is definitely a step in that direction but instead of everything else on that list I'd love to see each park get a something new and exciting. YMMV.

I acutally think the Pandora stuff seems interesting even though I've never even see the movie.

To the poster that mentioned that local theme parks add a new ride every year...That is true with our local theme parks as well. However most of them are not as detailed of a ride as what Disney has. They are just a new water ride or rollar coaster with no theming and no interactive queue. The theme is part of the reason we go to Disney; it's not just your ordinary theme park to us.

I for one am very Intrigued about all of this. The Pandora section at AK looks pretty cool..... and while I'm not a huge avatar fan this looks very pretty. I love Disney dark rides so I'm happy they are making one at AK.

I don't understand Disney's strategy. They own all of this property that includes FOUR THEME PARKS...and yet...they are content with having only ONE of them being *truly* popular. Three aging, half-empty parks that are still very expensive to maintain but are losing whatever limited appeal they originally had in the face of the Universal/IOA juggernaut.

It's like they are content with everyone just cramming into the MK(which makes for a nasty guest experience) instead of providing incentives for people to venture into their other three parks. If that's their long-range strategy that truly spells disaster.

Less and less people will make WDW a "destination" with no desire to visit anything other than the MK. Making it a pit stop in a larger vacation filled with competitors(Universal/Sea World) and Florida's many sandy beaches. The resorts will become even more vacant.

Also worth noting that WDW parks includes several different parks worldwide, plus the cruise lines whereas your local theme park may be one or within a group of few partners. And even without the investment in MBs and FP+, there has been several hundred million put into WDW and DL, including attractions in recent years. Recent expansion at Universal is probably more compatible with the originall build of CA then recent WDW and DL renovations.

Having said that I agree that WDW does need to start thinking about and planning for additional major attractions, especially at DS, Epcot and AK as those parks are dominated by too few major attractions.

Personally I think a major Star Wars Land added to DS (especially given the companies involvement with that franchise and the next 3 movies) would be a great addition certainly more then Avatar as I see Star Wars having a much more longer and greater public appeal and potential for innovative ride experiences.

Wow! I think those additions will be AMAZING!!

My answer is having Animal Kingdom open at night! It's the prettiest park ever at night and I simply cannot wait! I also hope they put out nocturnal animals out during the nighttime.

Pandora looks like it's going to be really cool, too. My DW is already telling me that we're going back in 2016 and 2017. (Going to Jamaica next year.)
