BWV vs. BCV

"Your post came across to me as angry. I didn't laugh once. "

Me angry? not angry, I didn't know I was here to entertain you.

I don't see the humor from the 25% size statements, must be me. It does amaze me how someone would spend the time to get this info. and save it on his hard drive verbatum. Sounds like someone with a pocket protecter and a kick me sign on his back.

I'm also amazed how one can give opinions on somethng they have never tried, and wouldn't have a clue about.(GV at BW). If you say it enough times people may actually believe that you would know what you are talking about, and we know that it's not true. It would be a shame that someone made a decision by one of your opinions, thinking that you had first hand knowledge, and missed out on trying one of the best rooms on Disney property. I don't give opinions on All-stars because I've never stayed there, have an idea what it's like, but couldn't offer a fair opinion. So I don't give it! I do know that they don't have a slide just like Okw.:D

My $.02...

We bought at OKW because we prefer it...period. Would I ever tell anyone else it was the best? Nope. Do I think it is? Yup. Each person needs to make up their own mind.

I won't get into our reasons for prefering OKW as they have already been discussed (and discussed, and discussed) on this board...as have the reasons for preferring VWL and BWV. Why can't we all just be happy that there are options for all different kinds of tastes without constantly having to justify our own choices?

I think all of this pointless bickering is a waste of time and only causes hurt and angry feelings. Life is too short for that. I especially think that personal put-downs are inappropriate. Can't we all agree to let it go? Richyams will *always* prefer OKW. Peterd will *always* prefer BWV. Both of them are perfectly right in their feelings because they are just that...*their* feelings. But telling someone that they are wrong for preferring one place over another is just ridiculous. Why would you want to make somebody feel badly about something the enjoy and care about. Seems pretty small to me.

Please keep any future posts in this thread on the topic of BCV and BWV.

If other discussion is still desired, it should be in another thread and will be removed from this one!

Thanks!

I, too, have wondered which is best for us...BWV or BCV. Our home resort is OKW, but we planned on adding points at BWV. Then, with reading all about BCV, I can't decide where to buy!

Stormalong is great, but when we travel wih the Grandchildren, we usually travel in December. Sometimes it is extremely cold and swimming is not for us. When DH and I go alone, we usually go to BWV. Right now, my feeling is that we will add on at BCV, just in case we get to use the pool!

I just wish that all of my choices in life would be so wonderful!

First of all I've got to say that I have stayed in all of the DVC resorts except HH and they are all great. Each has something that makes it unique and stands out above the rest. We own at BWV and just added on at BCV. One thing that I will like about BCV is the dedicated 2 BR. I DO NOT LIKE LOCKOUTS. We took grandchildren with us to BWV in Nov. when all the parks closed early. They loved being on the BW at night. They are old enough that they can be by themselves there but I don't think I would let them go from BCV to BWV alone.

Thank you all for your input. I didn't mean to cause such a stir. I think that I am leaning toward BWV for right now. Now I have to decide how many points to buy - 150 or 200.

Peterpan321, YOU didn't cause a stir. The force is strong with you. There was just a disturbance in the force, and I think we may have silenced it for awhile. Dee ,another great post , thank you.
AnYway, Boardwalk or Beach club, both great decisions. I have added on 5 times, all through disney, so I couldn't tell you how it is with a resale. Others have done very well with resales, and that's who could help you the most. We're thinking of adding on at either the BC or buying a resale at BW. Good luck with what ever you choose, and sorry you got caught up in the BW, Okw thing.
It seems whenever someone asks about the BW, BCv, WlV, or anything other than the Okw, the self proclaimed Okw king thinks it's his job to change the topic over to why he prefers Okw. Sorry some of us feel it's our job to remind him that the topic wasn't why he thought Okw was #1. We should ignore him, but we can't, it's like the brother-in-law everyone wants to ignore, but you can't. Sometimes you have to remind him how wrong his opinion is to MOST of everyone he's telling it to.
If we didn't do it, some of you may think he knows more than he claims, and I think new dvcers should know that a lot of the people on the boards give opinions on things they have never tried, the BW GV for one. You will LOVE the BW or The BCV, Think 120 standard view for a 2 Br BW for five days sunday through Thursday, 160 for preferred view BW or BCV. 90 for the 1 br at BW standard for 5 days, 120 BC/BW prefered. (nov prices)If you want weekends, think about an extra 54 something points a night for the two bedroom. All depends what your' family needs. good luck!

Let's all give Rich a break and listen to Doc - if you guys were criticizing Rich for straying off topic, then we should all try to stay on topic as well.

Man, BWV vs. BCV is a *really* tough choice - a *little* bit hard to make an informed decision since no one has yet had the chance to stay in the BCVs. We had been coveting the idea of a BWV resale for a while but decided to go with BCV because of Stormalong Bay, and also the proximity to the Boardwalk area. It's the best of both worlds, from our perspective. If you're in the mood for some action, the Boardwalk is a short walk away. Epcot is *right* there. And if you're in the mood for a little more peace and quiet, it's a little more out of the way. Both of them are fantastic resorts, though. Can't go wrong with a choice like that.

I have a new theory. I am now convinced that Rich is an undercover agent for BWV whose assignment, which he chose to accept, is to convince as many people as possible to stay at OKW so he can make his ressies at BWV more easily... Jeez, I hope I'm not putting him in any danger by blowing his cover...

JonHM,

You crack me up!

We're currently in the market for some more points in the Epcot area. We own at OKW, but have spent NYE at BWV twice and really love being able to walk to Epcot and MGM when it's so busy. I too have been weighing the difference between BWV and BCV and for us BWV keeps on coming up the winner. Why?

(1) We can get a resale for a whole lot less than $70-75 per point.
(2) We're planning on staying at BWV/BCV over NYE and OKW the rest of the time. Having an extra cool pool (SAB) doesn't count for much in early January. Brrrr!
(3) We can book standard view rooms at the 11 month window and save points.

If the perfect BWV resale doesn't drop into our lap, we will be checking out BCV during our Mother's Day trip. Actually seeing the place may change our minds.

My wife and I find the Boardwalk area to be great but we felt that BCV would be more relaxing and if we wanted action we can go over to the Boardwalk area.

We recently made a switch to BCV instead of Boardwalk. What we gave up was the option for the lower points standard view and the option of some great waterfront views, and close proximity to the Boardwalk area. What we gained at the Beach club was the number of points we were looking for, a little newer room set up, hopefully better elevator access, and the option of using SAB. We also believe we gained more covered areas for those afternoon Florida rains, nice restaraunts, and being on the beach side of Crecent lake. We like the beach theme over the clown theme, but may not have access to a community center.

Alternatively, I agree that candor is nice, as is humor in our postings. However, some postings do not fall under within the description of candor. Opinions stated as factual and repetitively presented in an aurgumentative manner, that do not serve the intent to inform or make people laugh, but inflame and belittle is unecessary from any poster (including myself), and as we have seen in other discussions is causing some previous posters to avoid visiting this board. Funny stuff is great, but there's some repetitive aurgumentative nonsense that really isn't funny. Previous posters have stated such much better than I, in threads that have ended up being closed. Perhaps this thread needs to be closed as well given it's off topic content and if both sides aren't going to be given equal airing. I personally cannot sanction "rudeness" under the blanket guise of "candor" in those posts where "candor" doesn't apply, they are different things. I personally don't see why we all cannot agree to a little higher level of courtesy on the DVC board when some posters are indicating they are being driven away. I also don't see informative discussions regarding the pros and cons of purchasing at one DVC resort over another as falling within the description above, talking about the good and bad points of each resort certainly can help purchasers make better decisions, and I'm all for that. I come to this board quite often for helpful advice and considered the discussions regarding the pros and cons for the Beach Club from this board heavily in making our purchase decision. This board is a fabulous resource for information, I'm very glad it is available. I personally applaude everyone on this board providing informative posts to everyone so that we can better enjoy and guide our future DVC purchases.

I own at Vero Beach and the Beach Club, so perhaps we cannot seem to get enough of the beach theme. I did not find this Board until after our Vero Purchase. Although, we would have still purchased at Vero. During peak seasons, we like to have the option for a combination vacation at the WDW and some relaxing time at the beach. I do prefer the theming of the Beach club, although we have taken the leap with some degree of trust in our decision since we have not yet stayed or toured the actual Beach Club Villas facilities. Hopefully the quiet pool and landscaping will add to the resort.

Good luck with your decision.

JonHM,

I couldn't agree more with your thinking re BCV.

We own at BWV and I will always love my choice of Home Resort, but would not hesitate for a second to be an owner "across the lake".

MY guess is the lack of Grand Villas at BCV is an issue that most people will never need to worry about. Having SAB there is the best sunning/swimming option in all WDW (imho) and I feel like the "average" views from BCV will even be superior to BWV - it appears that about 90% of the rooms will either face Epcot, the BCV Pool Area or the Boardwalk, all lovely vistas.

Having said all that, BWV does have a few plusses too. The walk to MGM is only 15 minutes from the closest exit from the facility - it would be at least 1/2 hour from the far end of BCV, while the walk from BWV to Epcot is only 10-15 minutes max. You have the option to secure a "Standard View" Villa and save some points if you want. The "Boardwalk View" is really exactly that. We've had it three times and the combination of being directly over the action going on below, watching the boats coming and going on the lake, the beautiful views of BC/YC, Spaceship Earth and the Illuminations Fireworks is the best offered by any WDW locations (again, imho).

As a BWV owner, it will feel weird to be so close to SAB and not be able to pool hop, but the combo of Luna Park and the quiet pool is still a great set-up for kids of all ages.

So...........to the original poster who asked the question in the first place, I say "flip a coin". You can't go wrong with either decision, so maybe just leave it up to fate.

Just wanted to say that it took me a while when I was new to the board to get used to the "25% smaller" line, but I see that Richyams has no malicious intent when he says it & yup it now makes me laugh, because for many of us the smaller rooms are definitely okay, given the location of the resort!

Anyways, it's very easy to choose the number of points... If you're choosing between 150 & 200 points, buy 250 points... I'm so not kidding here... Once you buy points, you inevitably will need more, it happens to almost all of us... We bought 150 (BWV), then we bought 100 (OKW), then we bought 50 (BWV)more... we're at 300, which is great for us right now... The only place I would consider adding on at this point is the new Eagle Pines location, I love the look of the resort... even though it's location isn't walkable to anything!
