Which do you prefer and why? How far apart are they? We are leaning towards BWV, but want to eat at some of BCV restaurants.

I like BWV thats why I own there. They are across the lake from each other. :Pinkbounc

you don't feel as if your resort is an after thought.
They are on the same lake and share boats.
you can walk to each in five minutes :cool1:

Own points at both, but like BCV the best. BCV has two elevators. BWV has only one set - makes for long hauls when you are at the end of the building.

Also like the pool better at BCV.

I like both resorts, but BCV is my favorite.

I've stayed at both in one trip, the first time was to decide which I liked better before I did an add-on. I bought at BCV. Although BWV has lots of resturaunts nearby, I preferred the offerings at BCV-B&C right there, Cape May for the character breakfast, BC Marketplace for a quick sandwich and some gelato. And I love that beach right out front. Also, BCV has more comfy places to read a book, I think. But I must admit, the BWV BW views are by far the best for views.

Don't think you'll go wrong with either one... We bought BWV sight-unseen and are extemely pleased. That said, we are planning our next trip to BCV to see how life is on the other side of the lake!

I've read lots of comments about the "walk" in the long hallways at BWV and the fact there is only one elevator, and think it is pretty funny considering how many miles folks put on their feet during a WDW vacation... What's an extra 100 yards? I've trotted back and forth from Space Mountain to Buzz's Space Ranger spin doing the fastpass dance a few times, and they're a lot farther apart than any room at the BWV. For all the admitted oddity of only having one bank of elevators, I haven't really noticed long delays at them except at times coincident to Epcot closing or check-out time.
We really enjoy the nightlife on the BoardWalk---meaning the live entertainment. Of course, if you stay at BCV all you have to do is (oh no!) walk over to take part. Similarly, as a BWV denizen I can walk over to B&C. That's the advantage of the Epcot resort area and why those properties sell at a premium. Sure, you can't pool hop to Stormalong Bay... Drop a couple $$$ and head to one of the water parks if the BWV pool isn't enough for you.
We really hope to stay at all the DVC resorts, but we wanted the 11 month window at one of the Epcot resorts. Best of luck finding the right contract on resale or getting the points you want from Disney. We bought our original contract resale and then did an add-on from DVD. I spent more time comparing resale contracts than I have ever spent comparing cars... Some time, you just have to take a swing at the ball!

The standard view and guaranteed Boardwalk view options at the BWV are a huge advantage - IMHO, it more than makes up for SAB (we're not pool people and if you have small ones, it's a lot easier to keep an eye on them at the BWV pool than it is at SAB).

We always stay at the BWV and often eat at the restaurants at the BC/YC as well as those at the Swan & Dolphin (love that 20% DVC discount at the Swan/Dolphin). IMHO, the EPCOT resorts have lots of wonderful restaurant/eating options - the lake isn't that big. No need to restrict mealtimes to your own resort if you don't want to, no matter which of the 3 complexes you choose to sleep in, LOL.

IMHO, the location of the BCV and the BWV are comparable. We prefer the BWV location because it is only a little farther walk to EPCOT (than it is from the BCV) and it is a lot closer to MGM. We love the ability to walk to both. The boat is nice, but walking is faster.

I agree with Blue&Gold about the BWV hallways - what's a few extra steps when you are at WDW? Especially since the extra walking is in air conditioned hallways and the rooms with the better views (IMHO) are farther from the elevators.

All that said, IMHO, you can't go wrong with either one! My advice is to choose the theme that appeals to you most!

Best wishes -

We own at BWV and are looking forward to an adult only stay next fall at BCV.

When our family goes to WDW, we stay at BWV as our family loves the action of the Boardwalk (and the restaurants), as well as being close to the Disney Studios (our teenagers favorite park). My husband and I love Epcot (and its growing on our teens), so we're headed to BCV next fall for our 20th wedding anniversary trip. With the close proximity of the boardwalk to BCV, we'll easily be able to walk over to the Boardwalk if we desire.

Keep in mind that no matter where you stay, its fairly easy to have the best of both resorts (except for the pool) no matter which resort you stay at. Stormalong Bay (SAB) at BCV is very appealing to me compared to the Clown pool at BWV...but my kids didn't really care about either theme pool since they are older. We usually use the quiet pool at the BWV over the theme pool. We typically head to the 2 Disney waterparks for true water fun, so pool theme doesn't play into the resort decision.

I tend to agree that the walk from the BWV elevators to rooms are sometimes overexagerated. We take the stairs most of the time as it is faster than waiting for an elevator!! Proximity to parking might be something that may play into your decision (if you are driving or using a rental car) as bus transportation is poor from both in my mind. Other than Epcot and Disney Studios, we tend to drive to the other locations most of the time.

Go and enjoy no matter where you stay.
