DW and I just returned from a stay at BWV 12/3-9. I wanted to post a DVC Trip Report with the addition of "grades" for each area. I focus only on those areas of the trip that are pertinent to this board.
Villa: BWV 1BR Standard View villa room 4121
Check in: We arrived via ME about 3:00 and were met by David, the greeter at BWV. He is a delightful, enthusiastic CM. He welcomed us, and escorted us in to the lobby. We had done the on-line check-in and that front desk position was in use so he took us to the guest services desk where we were checked in. Our room was ready the fourth time we had been so fortunate at BWV to get our room upon arrival prior to 4:00. Check in was quick and easy.
Grade: A+
Room Cleanliness: The rooms were clean...very clean. Because of these boards I checked very closely since I hadn't seen issues before. I checked under the sofa, for mildew in the bathroom, for dirty dishes. All were very clean. There was the usual wear and tear but I can't complain about the cleanliness upon check in.
Grade: A+
Room Maintainence: We found the room to be well maintained. No mechanical issues with anything.
Grade: A+
Mousekeeping: We had a clean room upon arrival, and only had trash & towel service since it was a 6 night stay. We put up a Do Not Disturb sign on T&T day since we sleep in and dont leave the villa early. We were not disturbed, and upon leaving for the parks I notified a mousekeeper in the hallway that our room was open for service. All T&T completed when we returned.
We did get the 7:45 a.m. mystery call and subsequent hang-up on our check-out day, but we were already up and it was no bother to us. My wife thought it was a little rude, but I look at it more as an attempt to get into the rooms quickly. Especially now that express check-out tells people just to leave and not even notify the front desk, I dont know how else mousekeeping can find out which rooms they can start cleaning. So it doesnt bother me at all, especially since we had not hung the Do Not Disturb sign.
Grade: A+ (DW would give them an A because of the call)
Room Location: We were on the fourth floor, which is the top floor on at part of BWV. We were in the second to last villa before the bend. We found the room location to be excellent as it was quiet with easy access to the bus stop (down the stairs and right across the walk to the bus stop) and a nice head start on the way to DHS. It was a small hike from the elevators, but that was not an issue at all.
Grade: A+ (it met our requests but I know this location wouldnt be an A+ for everyone)
Room View: Our room view was mostly .tree! There was a large tree in front of our villa which was the primary view.
If we walked to one end of the balcony we had a nice view of the pond and bridge.
And on the other end of the balcony we had a view of the drive-up area.
The following picture shows our room (circled) from the driveway area.
Our view of Illuminations was pretty much blocked, though our tree was not fully leafy as some of the other ones. We know the view is not the focus of Standard View rooms. The view was fine for us, but for others it could be disappointing.
Grade: C
Internet Service: We had connection problems when we first tried to access the wi fi in the villa. After a call to tech support, and one escalation, we were set. Evidently the tech guy was able to fix the situation in the area from his end and got us access. Total call time was about 20 minutes. After that, we had no issues and found the wi fi to be fine.
Grade: A
Bus Service: Although it is better because they no longer share one bus route with 7 resorts like they used to, we found bus service to be spotty. We had two waits of more than 30 minutes at the BWV bus stop, and another long wait at DTD coming back. We found that resort to resort was quickest if we walked to DHS and caught a bus there (and reversed it on the way back). In general, this just seems to be an area that could be better, but again we were rarely on any kind of schedule so it wasnt a major concern. Of course, walking to two parks is always convenient as well.
Grade: C
CM Attitudes: I have to say that we found CMs in general to be great this trip. And the ones at BWV were really friendly and service oriented. It started with David as mentioned above and continued through all CM interactions. The worst CM attitudes we saw this trip Id describe as neutral (not unpleasant, but kind of just doing the job) but most were excellent and genuinely friendly and helpful.
Grade: A+
Bottom line: All in all, another great DVC stay at a great resort. As always, we left counting our blessings for having the opportunity to buy into a program like DVC and really enjoy our vacations in style.
