BWV trip just got back

We just got back from a 9 day stay at BWV. Biggest take away is that none of the boardwalk vendors are open besides the Bakery, Pizza Window, Leaping Horse Libations/pool bar, and the Italian place. Such a different feel to the boardwalk without these vendors and shows being performed. Without the street type vendors open and not being able to casually stroll into Epcot at night when hungry as my family typically did, you end up eating from a very limited menu...

Things I wish I knew prior to arriving, the only place to get coffee is the bakery. I am used to going to Bell Vue Lounge but this was closed. The Sundry store beside the lobby was also closed. The community hall had a couple tables removed, the light box for tracing art was gone, no crayons or pencils (only markers), all board games and the pin board were removed.

Side note, why does the Beach club offer free popcorn for their movie night but the BWV dont?

We had no issue with buses or anything but did hear several people complain over the course of our trip about waiting 40+ minutes for buses.

If anyone has any questions about anything, please ask away.

The main pool got more crowded at night but from 10am-4pm never had more than 30 people in it. At night I'd estimate 45-60 people in it.

Masks were not required once in the pool gates.

Our experience July 22-28 with the quiet pool was much different. At night it got a little crowded, especially after 9pm when Luna Park closed.
Has always been that way! Which is why it was renamed from "Quiet pool" to "Leisure pool". Same thing happens over at BCV's pool when Stormalong Bay closes.

My biggest takeaway on this was not being able to wander at will into Epcot. :worried: But..on the positive side, you did get away for nine days! We always bring coffee with us. If I have to hunt for it, I become mean! :)

We walked the Boardwalk end of July when we took the gondola over from Riviera. It was SO QUIET compared to other times we have walked around. I naively thought that the ice cream place, sorry too early, forgetting the name would have been opened for ice cream which we were craving. We love walking around the Boardwalk, but certainly wasn't the same experience. We were disappointed that we could not walk the entire boardwalk as we normally do with the closure of the portion of the Boardwalk by Beach Club for the NBA. :(

Were the Friendship water taxi boats running in front of the BW and inside EPCOT?

Ample Hills was the ice cream place on the Boardwalk. I don’t think they opened at all this summer. I think they filed for bankruptcy.

Thannks, yes Ample Hills that’s it. Weren’t were they also supposed to open up a site at Disney Springs? I remember seeing the sign at DS

Prior to theme park opening, those staying at BWV were reporting the Luna Pool was reaching capacity.

We stayed at PVB the week before the theme parks opened and their main pool (Nanea Volcano) was packed after a rain storm. But we went the next day at 11 AM (when it opened) and crowd levels were low for the 4 hours we were there.

With the theme parks open, I was wondering how the BWV pools were doing, crowd level wise.

Ample Hills won't be opening at either location. They are shutting down. They even removed the sign on the Boardwalk. I hope they open up a decent ice cream place. Beaches & Cream isn't that great. Something like Salt & Straw would be great, just not grocery store ice cream like every other ice cream place at Disney.

Yes, hope that they open something good. Our fav off property ice cream is Twistee Treat, they have one in Kissimmee on rt 192 and one that isn't that far from Disney Springs...Gotta love it..Soft serve sundaes, cones, GREAT toppings, try the cookie dough wow! Better than Carvel up north! SOOOOO good and prices are great..drive through also! :cheer2:
