BWV to McDonalds/Publix

We don't normally rent a car. We are very directionally challenged (even with GPS). We want to go from the BWV to McDonalds and Publix (or store similar to Publix). Any suggestions as to the closest so we can do the least amount of driving?

We drove to Publix, the nearest to BW according to Garmin, and we were led to and across I-4 and traffic made to a horrible chore. Later in the week we just drove to Goodings to avoid I-4 despite the higher prices. There may be a Mickey Ds in that stripmall but there's really one just outside All Star.

There is a McDonalds in the Goodings Plaza. However, with the DTD construction, it's not going to be easy to get to.

There is a Winn Dixie on Apopka-Vineland Rd north of Hotel Plaza Blvd. Again that may be more difficult to get to due to the DTD construction unless you are comfortable using the back roads like Reems Rd to SR 535 (Winter Garden-Vineland Rd) or Vista Blvd to SR535.

There is a Publix on 192 by 429. Probably easiest to go out Sherboth Rd and head west on 192. There is also a Mc Donalds out there as well as just about anything else you may want.

I apologize but I don't understand the suggestions above. I definitely want to avoid heavy traffic and construction. I typed the 4 closest McDonald's and the 4 closest Publix to BWV. If you can tell me which ones to avoid and which would be the better drive I will greatly appreciate it. (I will have a special needs child with me and I need to find a McDonalds because that is a 'must do' on his list.) Thanks

There is a McDonald's right by the All Star Resorts. I think it is the one on your list on Buena Vista Drive.

Disney has a VERY nice property driving map you can pick up at the front desk when you check into your resort. Ask the CM who checks you in to show you how to get the McDonald's on property.

For LEAST traffic congestion risk - I'd go with the Publix on 192 by 429. I think that's the Orange Lake address. Now - look at a map for this - to make this the easiest - you want to exit Disney (and return) - via Sherberth Road. It's a nice area, nice grocery store. This avoids DTD, I-4 issues. Though - it might be a slightly longer drive.

According to AllEars.net re All Star Sports:
If you're in the mood for a Big Mac, a McDonald's, designed with the All Star Resort style in mind, is located about a 5 minute walk from the resort entrance on Buena Vista Drive. There's even a crosswalk.

So if you just want to go to McDonald's, and don't necessarily want to tie that to your grocery trip, you could take a Disney bus from a theme park to All Star Sports and walk over. We took a Disney bus from Disney's Hollywood Studios to All Star Sports to meet a friend. It was an easy bus ride (and I get motion sick at the drop of a hat). We drove past the McDonald's but were not interested in eating there that night.

Also, I would think that you could stop at the Concierge desk at the BoardWalk and ask how to get to the nearest grocery store.
