BWV Std vs RIV Std - 2br Availability Difference (Theory)

So my thoughts are if I book a 2BR Std View that BWV is going to perform on par with RIV when you consider how much time is left on the contract, lower paid price, and lower MFs. However when I start looking at Boardwalk View (which I prefer) compared to the Riviera Standard View the math starts to go towards Riviera.

So question to the group:
Will the 2BR Standard view at Riviera be moderately easy to get at 11 months based on smaller contracts typically purchased, extra size of 1br (avoiding people taking up 2br), and most important dedicated 2br options.

My math has it basically coming out as a wash based on just accounting for cost per year and MF per point. Obviously length of contract, inflation, time of money, and MF difference would all impact the comparison.

Thoughts?

I think it's wise to not count on the smaller categories to make a resort "work".
There are a lot of uncertainties about how RIV will do at 11 months. But the fact that resale can only stay there and the high point charts will create availability issues for standard rooms at 11 months. If RIV works for you only for standard rooms, then better to look elsewhere.
If you love RIV and would be happy to book preferred when you cannot book standard, then go for it.

However, you're comparing the best view on property with a view of a parking lot. If BW is your favorite, are you sure you'd really be happy looking at other people cars during your stay?

I own BWV today. As I keep looking at possibly adding on direct I keep coming back to wanting to be in the Epcot area.

I likely would only "need" a 2BR Std View every 3-4 years and my UY is set for walking. Enough points to cover preferred other years.

There is also the option to switch out at 7 months when being flexible with dates, downsize to a 1BR, and in 15-20 yrs when resale restrictions lock more people to RIV the kids would be adults and able to split in two studios if needed.

There is 100% a give on view and location. Like some others we are just young enough we would expect to see the end of the contract.

This was more specific though to simply the idea that while moderately difficult to get studios the 2BR might be easier in comparison to BWV given the point chart pointing to lost of people getting studio quantities of points.

Flip side Boardwalk View is not a given and without dedicated 2BR it can make it more difficult as well. Plus a 1BR at BWV at least until the next big reno is not really set up great for 5 people and the 2 BR with 3 real beds is also a draw.

Here’s my thoughts about availability.

Riviera has 238 2BRs, but only 90 are dedicated. AFAIK we don’t know for sure how many are standard vs preferred, I’ve seen an estimate of 28 standard dedicated 2BRs so I’m going to go with that. I’m assuming the standard lock offs will sell out instantly as studios, so then I’d expect to see 3-7 dedicated 2BRs come available on a typical day. That’s not very many, but it’s also not exactly in the range of AKV Club level (average of 1 room coming available each day).

I think it’ll mostly be ok.

From what I have seen, the 2 bedroom SV seem to be there at 11 months because there are dedicated ones and don’t rely on the SV studio being available

Matter of fact, for this December, first week, those were still there well into the booking window.

In my short time checking, I think the RIV will be easier than my experience with SV at BWV.

I don't see a problem getting Riviera standard view two bedrooms at 11 months, except maybe for the first two weeks of December. Look at skier_pete's thread for VGF 2 bedrooms.

VGF has 30 dedicated SV 2 bedrooms (and 30 lock off SV 2 bedrooms). I'm sure the lock offs all go as studios, but other than the first two weeks of December, there doesn't appear to be any danger of missing out on SV 2 bedrooms if you book at 11 months. IMO, Riviera will be comparable. I suspect most VGF buyers also purchased planning on studios and there are only 47 total there (30 SV & 17 LV).
