Room ready, 12:30 in on Thursday, when we arrived!:thumbsup2 Fine location, nice standard view, one of the trees and a retention pond, at the end of the hall, but only onthe 2nd floor, so sometimes it's done the steps. Fine number of supplies, really a great beginning of a wonderful sat. If only Notre Dame had won the bowl game, Thursday would have been perfect, but DH & DS were glad to be part of the crowd, and made it home without traffic delays. I had gone to the CP, standby on Thursday and thought Marlee Matlin was excellent, the whole presentation was worth the wait.

I suppose the MK busses have been the weak link of this stay, but the MK festivities, including the Holiday Wishes and Fantasy in the sky, we're worth the bother. It was a beautiful sky for the Holiday Wishes,a bit clouded over around midnight, but really perfect weather. We hadn't had to carry our sweatshirts, didn't need them. Dinner at Tony's was excellent, I had Chicken Parm, and it was tender and perfect. DH had the lasagna and enjoyed it a lot!

Now for very good news for BWV guests with cars. The self parking lot IS being saved for guests. Not only was the permit and key checked, we needed a passport to get into the lot. If it fills, and it could, I'm convinced it will be by BWV guests.

We're not going into a park today, the NYE Illuminations cruise is tonight, and we look forward to meeting the other Disboarders and DVC owners who are sharing the boat.

Happy New Year, Bobbi! Have fun tonight. Maybe you will be kicking up your heels with the DJ on the Village Green! :thumbsup2
One question: when you say that you needed a passport to park, do you mean an ID, like a passport or drivers license?

Bobbi - are you talking about the parking lot in front of the convention center or the lot behind the valet lot? When we were there in Oct, we were told that the lot behind the valet lot is for BW guests and the lot in front of the convention center is for conventioneers.

Thanks! Have a great vacation!

The word that should have been typed was Password, to actually get into the self parking lot, you needed to tell the CM stationed there a password.. On Thursday when we arrived, we had to park inthe overflow lot across the street. This is much more convenient.

The lot for BWV guests is today entered after doing the resort loop. You enter the lot across the resort street from the convention center. You enter to the right before the gates to leave. It's the only self parking lot that we are familiar with.

The password routine is new, AFAIK, and probably a good attempt to deal with the parking issues. I am assuming that this is only a temporary practice during the holiday season. I will be surprised if the password is still required when we get there on Jan. 10, but it would be great for BWV guests if the password requirement becomes a permanent thing.

What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!! Enjoy!
Good news about the parking lot. Keep the updates coming - I have five looong months until I'm "home" again. Happy 2012!

Are the parking changes just for the holidays or for the whole year?

When we were there in Nov during the last week of F&W they were checking parking passes and if you did not have one you were asked to turn around. People that were saying they had dining reservations or were going to use valet were also being turned around. That was happening to lots of people. They were not doing the password though.

Bobbi - there's another self parking lot if you turn left just after passing thru the security gate. Follow the lot around to the left and keep going to the back and then you will be able to go right and may be able to park just across the holding pond from the end of the standard view rooms by the pond if there are spaces available. It's the part of the valet parking lot that is not sectioned off for them to use.

Wish I was there now getting ready to see the fireworks!!!!

Kathy, I'll take another look, but most of that lot seems to be blocked off with internal gates.

Last month when I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn I remember that on Friday December 16, 2011 there was a sign outside the guard shack which said parking was restriced to guests staying at the BWI/BWV and those with confirmed dining reservations. Plus the line was so long getting in we used the guest side and inserted one of our Key To The World cards so the gate would open, which saved at least a couple of minutes. Anyway once we drove past the Convention Center into the self parking lot we then saw another Cast Member standing at that entrance who checked our Key To The World card and our Boardwalk Inn parking pass before we were allowed to park.

Happy New Year! Hope you had a wonderful Illuminations cruise and please tell us how it was. Would love to do one next New Year's Eve when I plan to be in the World.

The cruise was wonderful! It was extra special for Jiminy Cricket because not only was it a surprise belated birthday present for his girlfriend, he asked her to marry him, and she said yes!

Our captain was Dave and besides the normal snacks and soft drinks/water, we had tasty pastries, (a marshmallow brownie treat was my favorite), and an assortment of drinks to welcome in 2012. We enjoyed champagne, and there was also sparkling cider and other selections. These things were inclded in the price. For this night of Illuminations, the captains didn't stay under the bridge but did enter the lake for a better view!

All in all we were 5 groups of 2 who came together for a fun night that we'll remember fondly. I'm looking forward to receive the group photo from Sarah!

Charmaine, I think it was a great way to spend NYE, I hope you get to do one
too!

Yes, it looks that way but just follow the left side perimeter around and you'll find more parking. I avoided it because of that same thought when we arrived even though several cars were turning in. I then left a battery charger in the room that I needed to return to BWV for so I decided to give it a try and was surprised by the parking. Just don't stop at the area right when you turn in. Most people did but there are spots that are closer to the villas if you wind your way around back.
