Need your help! For my first ever 'welcome home' I'm 'borrowing' a reservation from a fellow Dis-boarder (My own points won't be available until mid April and my vaca is in early May.)

I think I would have opted for the Boardwalk View for my very first stay...a little indulgence for the newbiew, but this ressie for a Standard View was already made and fit my arrival time perfectly.

I'd like the nicest view possible from a standard room...but I don't know what that is. Someone said to request a 'room near the bus stop' to catch the fireworks, but when I looked at the layout map...there were two different wings that 'looked over the bus stop' and I wasn't sure which was what?

I wonder if the rooms on the same plane as the entry would look out over the parking lot and pick up Fantasmic? And then the ones along the drive but perpindicular to the parking lot and entry face...they might be able to see some of Illuminations??????

If anyone can be more specific as to where might be the nicest view for my first time experience, please let me know. I might not go to the parks that much this first visit, cause I just want to enjoy the resort. If the weather is good, I'll be spending a fair amount of time at the pool during the day. I won't be in the room around Fantasmic's fireworks, but would be for Illuminations. Any way to get a water (canal view) with a standard?

Another question is the solid balconies that are said to be @5' tall. It seems that one couldn't actually sit and watch much of anything with walls that high. Are there so many of these that I need to request a slatted balcony?

I appreciate all help you can give me...I don't think there are enough points in my 'seller's' bank to allow me to try to upgrade to a Boardwalk View...and even tho my points will be available by then, I guess I can't use my points to upgrade can I?

Thanks,

don't knock standard view until you try it!

it is my favorite - much, much better than that silly clown. (my opinion)

go look at your map again - BWV near the bus stop is only one side of the building.

although someone else says that the fireworks can be seem from near the elevator up high.

I don't know for sure - when I want to see the fireworks - I get out on the BW and you can definitely see the high ones from there.

Just ask for a high floor and the bus stop view. You will have a view of the entrance to BWV on your left, the bus stop ahead and a wonderful view of the fireworks. A prefered view gives you a view of the quiet pool.

Some of the standard views are at the far end by Jellyrolls, facing the canal and Swan/Dolphin, I got one there once. Now that they tore down the old DVC offices, these may now be preferred view.

I agree, if you must request something that specific, ask for high floor, across from bus stop.

You could also ask for something away from the elevators to get you down to that end of the building, but as someone pointed out, you may end up at the other end if they are still standard views.

And then be prepared to be happy with anything that you get! Not everyone gets the perfect views and porches and wishing for it your first time may bring disappointment! I have been three times in a SV and have yet to be down the hall across from the bus stop and have requested it each time.

Thanks for the help.
Re requests: ya can't get whatcha don't ask for.

I wasn't knocking standard view, just commenting that for just 3 extra points total I could have the Boardwalk View (3 nights studio),making requests so much easier!

Yeah, Deb...I read that you lucked out with that great canal/Swan view in one of your posts...I bet you are right that now those rooms are Preferred. Darn!

Duckielucky...thanks, I understood your 'directions'...now I understand!

Spicey: doesn't Disney know that clowns are the #1 fear factor in kid's nightmares? What is up with the clown anyway? Is it at the big pool?

Kathleena: sorry you didn't get the view you requested. And you are right, I don't mind walking and actually like to be away from the elevators (too much hustlebustlesuitcasemovingcrashingtalking). Maybe that is best left for check in as: hope to get a nice view if possible...don't mind walking long past the elevators.

Thanks all!!!

Actually, I was disappointed with the room by Jellyrolls. I would have preferred to be facing the driveway and be able to see Illuminations. It was a case where requesting a specific room # probably bit us. I had stayed in 3123 a few months before (the large corner room) and thought the extra room would be great with 4 adults. So we requested 3123 or 4123, ended up with 3002.
