BWV standard view?

I just recently closed on a BWV contract and will be taking my first trip home in December. I'm thrilled to hear how much everybody enjoys the standard view rooms as this is one of the things that drew us to the BWV's sight unseen.:cool1:

I want to only stay in the standard rooms at the BWV. Earlier this month we stayed at the BWV and it was the first time I ever had preferred view. I was not happy and missed my standard view. We were one of the last rooms near the end of the resort closest to the dumpters and delivery area. (It overlooked the little garden area and the Swan and Dolphin. Again my request was poolview (either pool) and didn't get our request (as usual). My other request was to be near my family (grandkids) didn't get that request either (thank goodness non-smoking is not a request, because I have the worse luck getting any of my request since becoming a DVC member...but that's a different thread.) We were on one side of the resort and they were on the other side facing the valet parking lot--I could not have been further away, unless I was staying at the BCV. I tried to change rooms, but was told nothing available. Decided then, unless I get standard view, I'll try elsewhere from now on. (Yes, I'm a BWV owner, but wanted to use my SSR points for my early May stay, but no standard room available.) I still love BWV, just not preferred view rooms--at least the one I got....:duck:

I knew that you could walk to Epcot from BWV, but can you walk to MGM?

Yes!!!

One of the good things about being all the way down the hall near the tennis courts in a standard room is that it is sooo close to the entrance of the Studios. We had a pretty easy walk. Nice to do in the morning or night (extra magic hours!) when it is not so hot. Otherwise the heat can be opressive.

The picture below shows the Standard View rooms (in blue):

Sorry off topic.....Great Graphic! We are going to BWV in September prior to purchasing DVC there! Yeah! Can you show me where the bus stop is on that picture?

In the PP's picture, do you see at the bottom of the picture where the blue line ends (close to MGM)? That's where our room was (room 3029).

Now don't get me wrong, the room itself was wonderful and the view was of the "duck pond" as they call it and beyond that the valet parking lot (although we really couldn't see much of it).

The worst part was that the room was 289 steps off of the elevator. Yes, I counted them. What else do you do when you feel like you are walking forever? You count the steps! DH & DD7 thought I was nuts.

I would absolutely stay std. view again, however, I pray that I get a room closer to the elevator.

See the Circle entrance?
Follow what looks like a curving sidewalk to the bottom and right and you see the bus shelter. You can thne see that the bus shelter has a covered sidewalk connecting the bus stop to the entrance (to the right of the circle drive)
From standard view, you can leave on a door at the corner and follow the sidewalk (along the canal) up to the bus stop.

Second Floor Standard view was great because we did not have to worry about the elevator. We were right where the angle-break is in the blue line - about 1/3 of the way down the building. For the point savings, I would never go any other way!
I also reserved 11 months out and day-to-day to insure that we got the standard view. IDK how much week-night availability there is after that time.

Thanks for all the info! We have just finished changing our SSR ressie at Christmas to BWV-standard view. I had to do it day-by-day and they said it was the only one available, but it worked! We are very excited about this--I guess I'd better start looking for Boardwalk pics taken at Christmas time!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Good for you! I love the way the BWV lobby is decorated for Christmas. We alternate between staying there and VWL at Christmastime.

Bobbi:)

Guess I'll find out about the standard view in 3 short days. :cool1: I'm finally doing the happy dance. My DS8 and I will be there for 6 nights, then move over to Pop Century for 3 nights . . . at my son's request. (well that, and it saved me 63 points; sounds like another trip for mama)

There are several reasons I love the standard view....less points (more trips!!) and since we use the quiet pool by the Community Center we are actually closer in standard view and one trip we could actually lie in bed and see the Illuminatons fireworks. Unless you have a Boardwalk view, I feel the preferred view is actually more difficult to get a great view.
