Somewhat OT but related to this issue is that FL has just voted to eliminate smoking from all restaurants. I think it goes into effect 1 Jan. Standalone bars are excluded but there was no mention as to how this issue would be determined. A friend who is a manager at a local steak house said he thought the cutoff would be those that sell more than 50% as alcohol over food. He was very happy as even with an ever decreasing size of his smoking area, he had trouble keeping it full. Even then, it was mostly people that wanted first available. I asked him about the assertion that smokers bought more alcohol and spent more money. He said he didn't see that but they tied up the tables longer while not bringing in that much more revenue and he said he felt he'd make more in the long run from faster turnover.
So we will now have the room occupancy police and the smoking in restaurants police, LOL.
