What view are the rooms across the hall from the BW view rooms classified as? Are they preferred or SV rooms? I know there is a map somewhere but cant find it.

They are preferred view - garden/pool.

can anyone tell me what is the difference between the Standard view, and preferred? Which do each look over? We are going to be renting points to stay in a studio, and we are looking for more info on the BWV studios:) thanks!

The standard overlook the front drive and comprise about 20% of the villas. The BW view are another 20% of the villas and preferred are the rest overlooking the pools and the village green.

thank-you for the maps! So as I can tell the Studios only either overlook the entrance to the resort (standard) OR the pool/gardens (preferred) there are no studios that overlook the actual boardwalk? When I look up how many points I will need it says for Standard 160, for preferred 200....there is no Boardwalk view option. AM I nuts or is this correct? Just getting my facts straight to narrow down our choices...AKV,BWI or BCV...but it seems that the BCV views for the studios are not all that desirable?

There are definitely studios that overlook the Boardwalk. On the map, you would find them scattered throughout the area covered by the blue line.

Boardwalk view villas cost the same number of points as the Pool/Garden villas. But Boardwalk view is a separate booking category. You know when you book if you got one or not.

The Boardwalk view rooms go fast and if you want one, you'll need to find someone to book for you as soon as the 11 month window opens for your dates.

As do standard views. If you aren't planning a year out, you MAY not have a choice and may end up with preferred view. Or sometimes you can book three months out and get a choice - luck of the draw. But people new to DVC are often surprised at the lack of availability.

I'd ASSUME you are getting a pool/garden (we own DVC and ALWAYS book eleven months out and I always ASSUME I'll get a pool/garden) and then tell the person you are renting points from that you want Standard if available, then Boardwalk (or Boardwalk, if available, then Standard).

this helps alot thanks! When calling in to book tomorrow at least we know what to have her ask for. We are interested in BWV either a pool view or a Boardwalk view would be great! AKV we would like a pool view room also, BCV not really sure on that one??:confused3 I don't want to give trouble with our friend or have her on the phone forever checking on too many places so we are narrowing down to 3 places. All I know is that when I clicked on the Points Calculator it had only 2 options for BWV standard or preferred in the Studio category. Again thanks so much and keep more hints coming!:yay:

None of the views at BCV are all that great. The villas were built on the old CM parking lot behind the BC. So no view of the lagoon, none of SAB, just the Dunes Cove pool at BCV and the parking lot beyond or grass and trees. Sometimes the grass and trees can be an Illuminations view at night, but most of the time it isn't.

In my opinion, the only reason to stay at AKV is for the savanna view. What better way to get up in the morning than to walk out on the balcony and see animals on the savanna.

At the BWV, the BW view is just a preferred view, but it is a separate booking category.

Deb & Bill thanks so much! We are taking BCV off our list! The reason for the pool view at AKL is kinda strange...;) we have stayed there 2x now in a non dvc room and loved it! Our younger son is on the Autism spectrum and while we loved looking at the animals at the overlook and other spots around the resort he has a fear of having a room with the animals right outside?!?! He has voiced this concern before, so we get the cheaper room :lmao: He would not sleep otherwise, believe me I know it sounds weird, so we are down to BWV and AKV...leaning a bit more towards BWV because it would be something different and we will be celebrating our 15th anniv.:lovestruc

Thanks for the map. We are planning and have begun to book for next year's girls trip and one room will be BW view since I will be able to book that with my new BWV points next week!!! But, the other rooms will not be able to be booked until the 7 month window. This year, we got lucky and got BW view room but that may not happen again.

At least now I know that if all that is left is preferred, I can make us a grand gathering and request rooms near each other--at least there will be chance to be in the same hallway.

I thought grand gatherings went the way of free valet parking for DVC members. Gone.

Yep - no more grand gatherings after sometime this Dec I think. Of course a benefit of the new booking system and single reservation number is supposedly so that it is known that a group is together and they were going to try and place people in rooms that are close to each other. Now that may work as well as the segmented dining did.........:rolleyes1

in a short while I will find out what is available, and I am driving myself nuts! We are hoping there will be something at either AKV jambo house, or BWV . Anyone have a preference or can sway me one way? I will be relieved when it is booked one way or another. Never stayed the BW and it looks nice....:rotfl2:

I thought just the grand gatherings experiences were eliminated (dessert party, etc).

I think you're correct. I went back and reread the info on what I took to be the ending of Grand Gatherings but it is referring to 4 or 5 of the experiences. :thumbsup2

Thanks - I didn't know that.

Well, at least I will be able to request that we be close--or, we will get lucky and still be able to get BW view room at 7 months.
