Hi everyone,
We (my DD-18 and I) were in Disney from 9/12 to 9/18. Stayed at CBR Saturday. It is a large resort, but it was so quiet and pretty. We were in Aruba section, pretty far from main pool and food court, but for one night it was fine.
At Boardwalk, we reserved a 1BR Std View (booked about 6 weeks before we went!). Did the online check in, and I liked it. There were several people in the regular check in. We walked up to the Online check in, and were handed our folder with room key, all in about 10 seconds. Room was ready when we arrived at about 2pm.
Did Garden Grocer, and we had our groceries and luggage from CBR delivered together about 3:30pm. Went perfectly. Couple TS meals, CP at MK was just ok, probably won't go there for a while. We also ate at Yak and Yeti. We were upstairs, and our reservation was early (11 am). It was almost completely empty when we arrived, and the food/atmosphere/service was very good. Looking forward to a return trip to this restaurant!
It was nice to walk to MGM or Epcot. We were in room 3127 at the Studios Walkway. Only bad part of that is that it is a pretty long walk to the elevators to the lobby and Epcot side of the building. We did have a staircase right outside the room that went out to the quiet pool. (Community hall was completed empty most of the time too).
We thought it was really quiet at the resort and parks, I'm sure the fact that we went prior to Food and Wine helped in that! We were there for the big "bomb scare" where they brought in all the buses for inspection. We walked to Epcot that day, I think it was Thursday 9/17, so we just saw it on the news and we also had a voice mail from the Boardwalk staff. There was quite a bit of buzz also about the MK changes. The CM at the train in toontown wasn't sure if the Toontown station would stay open during the refurb.
Most times we went to the quiet pool, which was every day, and sometimes twice a day, it was empty except for us! Since it was just the two of us, and we have been to disney several times, we spent the evenings (exception one MK PM EMH) at the resort. It was so much fun just playing cards or watching a movie later at night, or jumping in the pool right before bed! It was also nice to have so much space. My daughter could talk to her boyfriend on the phone and watch tv in the other room.
The room was immaculate, and it wasn't a renovated room. I loved the nice air conditioned (and carpeted) interior hallways!
This trip was truly relaxing. I think if I can ever add on points, they would probably be at the Boardwalk. Night time on the boardwalk is very pretty and a lot of fun too, and I think it's great to have several other resorts and restaurants right there. Looking forward to the next trip which is just a couple of months away. The next trip will be six of us at OKW in a 2BR. Bringing three grandkids, 8/6/4 and dd's 18 and 29. I have a feeling the next trip won't be quite as relaxing!
Thanks for reading! I'll be happy to answer any questions.
