I have just booked a 1BR at the Boardwalk Villas for late January. I asked about available views. The reservation person said I have a choice of a "Quiet Pool View" or a "Garden View". She didnt know what "Garden View" meant but said the "Quiet Pool" view is nice.

Can anyone tell me if one is better than the other and why? Is either view a bad view (parking lot, etc) ?

Many thanks in advance.

We had a quiet pool view at BWV last year....it was wonderful! Overlooking the quiet pool, Community Hall, the canal and Tower of Terror was right on the other side of the canal over the treetops. Each night, we could hear the music from Fantasmic and the distant roar of the crowd at the show's conclusion.

I wish I could find my picture from the balcony there....it was very nice!

Quiet pool view is excellent. You may also want to consider requesting a first floor unit so that you can come and go to the pool or Community Hall as you please.

garden view - I think is at the end near the tennis court or the courtyard view near the lobby.

quiet pool view - this is a very nice location - near the community hall - do you have kids - they would be very close to the community hall.

No kids, just me and the girlfriend, so community hall doesnt particalarly excite me because of the hustle and bustle around there. But from what I can tell from the resort map, these views point you across some little river/canal to MGM area and possibly the Swan hotel?

I think so - but the community hall takes up alot of the view - unless you get a high room

the one near the tennis court - will give you a better view of MGM - again higher is better.

if you want a view of a hotel - I would go with the garden view - you get the courtyard view of BWV/BWI.

I was told we had garden view this summer and our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the valet parking lot. We also had a small canal just below us and if we turned to the right on our balcony, we could see the TOT in the distance. It looked cool at night, but the majority of our view was the parking lot. I'd go with quiet pool view if I were you just in case you get the view we had.

I think the thing that matters to me most in the resort is the view. I don't care about much else, i.e. distance from the main building or lobby. Some DVC'ers figure that they are in the room so little that it doesn't really matter. For me, it's all about the view.

I agree A1A1......unfortunately, in addition to our view being the parking lot , we were also at the very end of the hallway---well, about 2 doors away. So we had a double whammy so to say
The BWV has many beautiful views, I'm sure.....I think probably all of the DVC resorts have some bad views here and there. If I ever stay at BW again, I'll be more specific in my request. All we asked for when we made the ressie was 1)non-smoking 2)upper level room (meaning non-ground floor room). We had PV points and I just assumed this meant I wouldn't get a parking lot view---I've since come to know better.

Are you sure you were not in a standard view? The valet parking lot is really not that close to the room because of the distance of the bridge etc but it is still in the distance with the waterway to MGM and TOT to the left and you can see Illuminations, right? Whenever I have gotten that type room it has always been a standard view room.

I did confirm this with MS upon our return. I was actually hoping to get some of my points credited back thinking they mistakenly put us in a standard view. MS put me on hold while they called the BW and came back and informed me that this was indeed a preferred view room. I was suprised myself. I would have loved a view of one of the pools---I knew my chances for a BW view were about 0% so I had no expectations for that since I booked 60 days out.
True....the parking lot was in the distance---not directly below our balcony or anything. But close enough that the kids and I could wave to my husband from our balcony when he had to run back to the car to get something. Also, TOT was to our right (if we were standing on the balcony). I couldn't tell you if it was possible to see Illumination from that room or not because we were always in one of the parks at that time. But you are not the first person to tell me you were suprised this was not a standard view---in fact, all the posts and PM's I received was what motivated me to call MS and question it. This was room #4131 if this helps.

I am sorry, I meant to say TOT and Fantasmic to your right and Illuminations viewing to your left.
I hate to say this but you must have been right at the cut off point of where the view turns from standard to preferred, which stinks! I am sorry that for your first visit to BWV you got the crappy end of the preferred view stick. I know it happens because that is exactly what happened to us in Sept for our first stay at BCV--our room was very conveniently located on the road for prime license plate reading and car& bus counting purposes, LOL!!!!! Worse room I have ever had at ANY WDW resort. However, since we stay so much in the Epcot resort area it was not that big of a deal to us. However I know this as your first visit to BWV, what a bummer.

yep....it was a little disappointing. Maybe next time we'll do better. I'll be a little more saavy in what I request in the future now that I know this. Live and learn. Thanks.
