Hello everyone!

We are staying as a guest at the BWV, and when I received confirmation it stated a Preferred View, but Garden/Pool. When I called to ask about a Lake/Boardwalk view, they said the request would need to come from the owner (since it is a different room catagory, but the same price).

I have two questions: does this sound correct? Also, what is a garden view at the BW? Should I have our friend request this, or should I ask at check inn?

Thanks for your help!

There are actually three separate view categories at BWV, for DVC members. First is Standard view, it costs less points than either of the two preferred categories, but the view is of the front of the resort driveway. Second is what you have booked Preferred view, Garden/Pool. This view is of anything that the standard view doesn't all ready encompass and does not include boardwalk views. These views are mainly of the pools, and the canal separating the resort from the Swan/Dolphin comples. The third view is preferred boardwalk view. This is a VERY popular view and has to be booked and can not be requested. It often does sell-out, since onlu about 10% of BW's rooms are in BW View. It is entirely possible that boardwalk view is already booked up for your dates, hence why you have the pool/garden view. The DVC owner you booked through is the only one who can make this change, if it is still available.

Assuming the BW view rooms are already booked up (very possible), ask the owner to request a view of the Village Green for you. These rooms overlook the lawn area between the resort lobby and the lake. The BW & BWI wings of the resort are on the other two sides of the lawn.

Even though these rooms have a partial view of the Boardwalk/Lake, they are considered Preferred view - Pool/Garden. If you are lucky enough to get one of these rooms, you will almost certainly be able to see some of the fireworks from IllumiNations from the balcony. This is a popular request, but you might get lucky!

Best wishes -

P.S. IMHO,there really isn't a bad view at BWV (unless you are one of the people who can't stand clowns, LOL).

Something I found out on my last trip - most of the village green view rooms are studios. We had a 1 bedroom on the end closest to the boardwalk, but over the village green (it was booked as boardwalk view).

Once again, thanks for the suggestions!

Deb, we will be there the same time 2/28 to 3/4. Keeping the fingers crossed for warm weather....

Carol,

I just called to ask about a Village Green view, per you suggestion, and the agent did not know of any request like that. Should I call back and ask again, or should I have our DVC friend do that?

Thanks!

If you are not the DVC member, you really should ask the member who made your reservation to make the reqeust. MS isn't really supposed to talk to non-members. They generally only confirm that there is a reservation in the non-member's name if a non-member calls. Sometimes they do accept requests for the reservation. The member always keeps complete control of the reservation.

Anyway, sometimes you do have to politely insist that they add a particular request - the MS CMs are not always familar with the individual resorts. I usually say that I really do understand that nothing is guaranteed, but if possible, I'd sure like to .........

Best wishes -

Our very first stay at BWV was in a studio that looked out on the village green. It was over Muscles and Bustles, on the top floor. It was a terrific room. So, when we make our plans for our Thanksgiving trip last Nov, MS asked if we had enjoyed our previous room. I told her that it had been wonderful. She told me that she would note that on our request and maybe be able to get one of the few one-bedroom units there. But, no luck. We were above the quiet pool.
