BWV questions

Hoping I can get some info as we're thinking about trying to get a room at BWV for our Oct stay (long-shot, I know). Thanks in advance for the input!

1) Is there only one set of elevators for the entire BWV building?
2) Are there multiple exits from the building or do you have to exit through the lobby?
3) How long is the walk from the check-in area to the parking lot?

1. Yes
2. Yes - there are several stairways (fire escapes); the lobby is on the second floor, the boardwalk is on the first floor. So if you take the elevator down to one, you don't go through the lobby.
3. I'd say 3 to 5 minutes

It depends on which parking lot you're in - I would guess an average walk to the self park area might be 5-10 mins, depending on how fast you walk.

The reason I ask is that we like to rent a car and if we're at the end closest to the parking lot, I'd think it would be a waste to have to walk all the way to the lobby just to walk all the way back to the parking lot.

they serve both functions. Anyone can exit the building by them at anytime. And yes many folks do exactly that - using them as a shortcut to the parking lot

Most of them, but not all. You may need to use a room key also.

You can use them anytime. You can also enter through them. I mentioned that they were fire escapes because they are not necessarily "pretty" (concrete walls & steps). I've used the ones on the pond end near the parking lot and the ones at the far end by Jellyrolls, depending on where our room was. There's also a stairway that leads out to the boardwalk by the atm near the boat dock.

Those are some of the reasons why we're so happy we bought our timeshare points at Old Key West. Parking is right by your unit, we can typically get a ground floor unit if the grandparents are joining us and the walk anywhere in the resort is short!

I think OKW is a beautiful resort, but I would not want to stay there again unless I was near the HH. The walk anywhere in the resort was NOT short. It was too long for my kids to go to the HH on their own, unlike at BWV, where they can go to the arcade by themselves.

I suppose parking by one's door is nice, but at BWV you never need a car as there are dozens of restaurants right there.

Don't get me wrong, I think OKW offers the best values in the system, but to my mid there is an inconvenience factor. I have no desire to drive anywhere, so parking close to my door is of no consequence.

we've used the staiwells frequently, and especially like that they feel like your own private entrance/exit. for a bit of an adventure, wander the halls, and pick one....you never know where you'll wind up we've found some really interesting, quiet spots that way. do be aware thta if you are on the 5th floor, coming down is easy, but going back up can get tiring.

btw, we walk to the main lot (for resort guests) a few times a day. the walk is very short, and very pleasant. if you are bringing groceries, one person can drop off another near the entrance then park the car (despite having this option, we never use it. i prefer the short walk).

No one mentioned anything about driving to restaurants After our first trip with our DD, we decided that while traveling with a young child, we'd much rather be responsible for our own transportation than rely on the bus system. This includes ME and park buses.

I'm glad you have no desire to drive anywhere. That's one less vehicle for us to deal with while driving around the World

We don't have a ressie yet. We're booked at SSR but are considering moving to BWV. We'll be going in Oct so F&W might make it impossible for us to get a room there anyway, but you never know.
