This is our first time staying at BWV.

1. Are the studios dedicated or lock offs? Or are there both?

2. I like to get the refillable mug when we stay in a studio, are there any places close to refill it? We will have a garden/pool view room.

3. We have a night on points and then some cash nights. Anyone have success not having to change rooms? We did not book through DVC because passholder rate was less.

4. I know that a lot of people love the resort, but I am more of a Beach Club person. What is so great about the place?

Thanks!!!

There are both dedicated and lock off studios.
You can refill your mug at the Boardwalk Bakery, and there may be other places, but we've never had a mug. The Boardwalk Bakery gets very hectic, it's not a favorite place of mine in the morning.
You can mention your other reservations at check in, maybe something can be done but you at least have to get new keys.
I like both the BCV and BWV. See how you like the Boardwalk, I hope you do!

If you are in a Standard or BW view villa, you probably will have to switch for your cash nights through DRC. If you booked cash nights through MS, they would just be considered the same as points nights.

I'm not the one to ask about the pluses for BWV because it's far from my favorite. I know a lot more negatives. But that's just me.

I love the resort. I've also stayed at BCV, the rooms themselves are comparable. The main thing I love are the views at BWV and the carnival atmosphere of the boardwalk, especially at night.

I have always loved teh Boardwalk even before it became my home. For me it is because it reminds me of the east coast and places I have been and it right next door to Epcot, my favorite park. When I have stayed at others to me it doesn't have the "right feel". But the only thing I don't like is not have a "food court" in a sense but that is ok.

You can refill mugs at the BW Bakery and Leaping Libations pool bar.

I find the walk to refill mugs not worth it - but we don't drink a lot of soda, nor are we at the resort much. If you are at the far end of the resort, it can be a hike to the Boardwalk Bakery, and it can get crowded.

Its a busier resort than BC - probably the busiest that DVC has. At the same time, sitting out on the veranda over the Village Green on an afternoon is quiet and peaceful.

Wander over to the Inn side and wander around the Rose Garden - one of the hidden gems at WDW. If you want a non-hectic pool, this is generally the spot to find it.

The Bellevue room (the bar) is really very nice as well.

I love Boardwalk and always go for the Boardwalk View. It's so great to sit on the deck after a full day and watch all the activities below. I'm not completely sure of this, but last time there instead of going to the Boardwalk Bakery, we strolled over to the hotel from the DVC villas and found the bar at the hotel had coffee and pastry in the morning. No lines no crowds. Not sure if they do refills on coffee mugs, but the lack of hassle was very desireable to me!

BWV's is our favorite resort!
the views are incredible (we found even standard view better than most elsewhere). just sitting on the balcony outside the lobby, watching over the village green & the BW itself brings you back to another time...:cloud9:
the resort has an upscale, elegant feel within, leading to a fun time filled with a myriad of activities just outside. there are a few eateries: big river grill with great burgers & such, delicious (tho somewhat pricey) flying fish, ESPN, & (curently) spoodles. the sweet shop has yummy ice cream & the bakery has excellent fresh baked goods throughout the day (they've a great pannini!). entertainment can range from sitting outside BRG with drink in hand while you people watch, listening to the bicycling piano player, watching a magician and/or other street performer, playing some carny games, strolling the gorgeous grounds, meeting new people in the belle vue lounge, relaxing and/or dancing at atlantic dance hall, spending the night listening to the antics of dueling pianos at jellyrolls.
while luna park is very nice (their themed pool with a cool slide), we particularly enjoy the "quiet" pool with the community hall alongside (where the kids ~ or you :) ~ can play video games, ping-pong, read, etc).
the walk to EPCOT is comparable to the walk from the BCVs, the walk to DHS just a bit shorter. the one consideration: do request a room near the elevators if you have a stroller or anyone unable to use stairs ~ some consider the walk from the end rooms to the elevators somewhat long (fyi, we've walked it repeatedly over the years & personally find it not unmanagable ~ made it easily under 5 minutes without rushing). there are quite a few stairwells if you do not need to use an elevator.

we own at both the BCVs & BWVs, but greatly prefer the quieter, more elegant, less chaotic lobby & other interiors at the BW, as well as the multitude of offerings literally "at your fingertips" outside. it has the perfect combination :thumbsup2
have a wonderful time!!

.. and a mug "refill" at the Bakery is not DIY, you wait in line, flash your mug, then they give you a paper cup of what you want. (soda machine is on the counter side)
And a pool bar never worked well for me with hours of like noon to 6 (perhaps 8) Great for my one or 2 afternoon pool times, but not daily pre or post park beverages.
I, too, started to get really fustrated with mug refills at DVC's, then it finally dawned on me, All DVC units have a fridge, I drive and can bring a few cases of my favorite soda or coffee supplies for less than a refill mug, and it is soooo much better to just grab a soda in my room without having to trek anywhere.

You can also get a refill at Spoodles' Pizza Window.

We love everything about the Boardwalk. Hope you do too!
