BWV Preferred View???

We recently returned from a great December trip, our first at BWV. I have some questions on the views. We reserved a preferred garden view 1br, but received room 1121, ground floor. The view is bus stop, driveway, main entrance, parking lot, and sidewalk in-front of our patio view. Could this have been a standard view? I called BW and was given "bridge/tree view" and they have no standard or preferred views listed. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

On our trip in '96 we reserved a villa with a water view and got a villa with a view of the drainage canal....not my idea of a water view. We called our travel agent and she got us moved the next morning to a FANTASTIC room on the real water side, the Lagoon! Perfect!

That sounds like a standard view room..preferred view is usually views overlooking pools or waterway...

You'd be suprised what BWV considers "preferred" view. We had a PV room last year and had a view (primarily) of the valet parking lot and service area driveway. We also overlooked the canal. But, easily, 75% of the view was the parking lot. I got home and posted on these boards and found out standard views were right down the hall from us (on the same side). I called both MS and BWV and I was promptly told, that, our room was indeed considered "preferred". Live and learn.

I would e-mail member services, maybe they will refund the points difference. We were in 3121, 2 floors up, as a standard view. I thought all the rooms facing the driveway were standard view.

Thanks Debbie, it seems strange that 2 floors up would be a worse view. I'll contact MS and see what they know.

I honestly wish you luck. I tried this last year and they wouldn't even consider refunding my points. I just asked for the difference between the PV and the SV. They wouldn't budge. Let us know what they say. I'm hoping for the best for you.

Speaking of views at BWV does anyone have a map of the BWV that show the different views?

I would love to see this too! princess:

I spoke with MS today. They said it was indeed a preferred view. "Anytime you look at a tree, it's a preferred view," he said. There was a tree blocking part of our view. I guess 2 floors up is not blocked by that tree. He offered to contact BWV and have them look at the room again to determine the view, to see if it could be changed for the future. We had a great vacation, regardless of the view. Next time we will have some specific requests.

My standard view in 3121 was blocked by the same tree. That's very unfair. I had a lovely view in the next room 3123, it was over the fountain and the pond, could see the Tower of Terror from the bedroom balcony, Illuminations from the living room balcony. It was an extra large room because it was on the corner. That was standard view and your view of a tree was preferred?

thats ridiculous, how can basically the same room(1121 and 3121) be standard view when its 2 floors UP! that cant be right

We had a preferred view in Oct that was overlooking the parking lot and the drainage pond. We inquired and it was considered preferred view because if you looked to the right you could see a little bit of the canal to MGM. Seemed pretty standard view to us, but if you're there for the F+W festival, most evenings you don't care about the view!

This past summer, we had a STD view that overlooked, the canal and directly faced the Swan. It was a very nice, much better than your view IMO.

I thought the preferred views basically faced either the boardwark, a pool, or MGM. There are preferred views that face the driveway? I recall having a similar view a couple of times. They were STD views, although I do recall having a "big tree view" on one trip...

Now I'm really confused.

This is exactly how we felt.....we were in room 4131 and a couple doors down from us was standard, while we were preferred. Sounds very similar to the area WDW Lovr described :

As the OP stated, we'll also be more specific in what we request next time. Thanks for posting your follow-up with MS Meir56013.

I'd suggest you contact DebbieB privately and see if she will give you the name they were registered in and dates. Even better if she still has a copy of the confirmation and will share it with you (no member number on those things). Then contact MS again and do ask them to check specifically with the resort. I sincerely doubt if MS knows exactly which rooms are Standard, Preferred and BW views. Sounds like they didn't even contact the resort and gave you an off the cuff answer, sort of the "we did it so it much be right" approach. If need be, ask them to have BWV reevaluate the room view itself. Keep notes of who and when you talk to. And while you're at it, ask for a listing of exactly which rooms are what view for future reference.

It was December 2001 when I stayed in that room, I can't remember the dates or have the reservation #. I suggest contacting the DVC Member Satisfaction Manager, I can't remember her name (Carla?).

I wouldn't bring the tree into the discussion. The fact that you were facing the front driveway is what made it standard view.

DVC could still look it up even without the member number and could do so without revealing protected information.

From our experience, all of the odd numbered rooms numbered from x069 to x121 are routinely assigned as standard view rooms. I don't have much experience with how they handle x123 to x135 which face the valet parking lot. The rooms on the end, x131 and x133 may have a partial view of the canal.

Just from memory, I know we've stayed in the following rooms as standard view: 4077, 5079, 3101, 2113, 2115, 1117, 2117, 2119, 2121, 3121, 2127

Basically, the entire wing that faces the driveway entrance is typically assigned as standard view. Do they also assign these rooms as preferred view? Seems to be a bit of a stretch. Gosh, maybe all this time they've been upgrading us to preferred view and we didn't know it. ;)

Actually, I think x121 is a great location with very good view. We've had actual preferred view rooms facing the pool which were much worse. It just feels better when you're paying standard view points. Good luck.

We were at BW early December & had a 2 br. We were the VERY LAST 2 rooms on the end before the stairwell (left hand side of hallway) on 3rd floor & it was considered a preferred view. We overlooked the valet parking lot, the canal & could see fireworks at MGM. Wasn't thrilled with the location (mother in-law has bad knees & it's quite a walk down the entire hallway to the elevator) & would have liked to view more water, but guess we lived! Would have loved this to be a standard view due to seeing so much of the valet parking lot!
