BWV Pool Hopping

Not to pick on you, ez, but when I hear this "lost revenue" moan I just want to throw up. We get this all the time from the pool hoppers, from the ancient mug users, from the people who didn't have the right ticket to enter whatever park, etc. The $20-30 that you would have spent at SAB would not even make a dent in the income that day.
ITA! A rule, is a rule. It is not just enforced under certain conditions! There is no pool hopping to SAB, period!
I was very disappointed when this rule went into effect, because we also used to pool hop there from BWV. But to be perfectly honest, Disney is not losing a penny of revenue from us, because we still spend the same amount of money at the pool bar on drinks, snacks, arcade games etc., it is just we are doing it at BWV all the time now, instead of occassionally hopping over to SAB.
Nope, I do not think Disney is worried at all about losing revenue from not allowing pool hopping at SAB, because all the guests from other resorts that would have pool hopped there, are most likely at their own resort's pool, spending money at their bar, snack bar etc. Disney is still getting their money, believe me!

Disney doesn't get their money, just on that particular day under those circumstances, they did lose revenue from us.

I've wondered how EMH can be reserved for WDW resort guests only. We have not been asked for a room key, and we use annual pass for park entry. Obviously if you are on a WDW bus, you probably came from a resort, but what about those who drive and park at the theme park. Do they not let anyone into the lot that does not have a resort parking pass? That's what I guessed, but I suspected that Disney just hopes nobody but resort guests know about it. Anybody know for sure?

What ever happened to calling the front desk of the resort ahead of time to see if Pool Hopping is allowed that day??

You are correct and additionally during holidays the quarterly magazine and the monthly emails normally announce in advance that pool hopping will be suspended during the major holidays.
The suspension during the July 4th holidays was announced in both publications.

I have always been asked to show my key to the world card even though we always use our annual pass too for admittance. Sometimes we have been asked to show a card for each member in our party but sometimes have only been asked to show one for the whole family. But we have always been asked to show it. I'm surprised you never have.

If you have been recently they are checking ID's. They randomly pick a park to do this. They have a CM at the entrance of the park on a bullhorn announcing to guests as they enter the park, that EMH is for Disney resort guests only. Please have your resort ID ready to be checked. Many were turned away. Some even argued they were Disney resort guest and were not given an ID when they checked in and had not needed it until now. LOL, the CM simply smiled and said Mam you better rush back over to your resort because if you don't have a resort ID, you don't have a room key either.

There is a possibility the lady DID call the front desk and was told she COULD use the pool. Then packed up her 11 and that's why she was POed when told she had to leave.

More likely she was an Orlando local not even staying at WDW.

I've never seen someone escorted from a pool but there have been numerous posts by those who have.

The life guard made an error. She should not have argued with the lady. She should have called a manager immediately -- and the manager should have determined whether or not to call security. Security should have dealt with escorting the family away -- not the lifeguard.

I have talked to many people who stay offsite and always crash the resort pools. They don't think there is anything wrong with it and have been doing it for years so don't assume it was a DVC member. I never use this perk as its a hassle for me but why should it be okay for BC members to come over to BW and not be reciprocated by just BW DVC members. Our pool is always crowded and I know its not only people staying at the resort but offsite people. I'm annoyed beyond belief when all the chairs are taken and I have to go to the quiet pool side to swim but no one has ever been asked to leave during my visits.

As a DVC member, I would not have gotten involved in this situation until the CM backed down and let them stay. Then I would have complained and demanded that the rules be followed. That is ridiculous! And as someone else posted, instances like this will most likely be the cause of pool hopping being eliminated.

I totally agree with this and also what Disfountainofyouth said. I would have had a hard time not saying anything if push came to shove... in words I mean. I would have asked the CM if this was indeed a DVC member staying at a DVC resort etc. If they weren't I would have had to have my two cents worth saying I was the one insisting they follow the rules. It just frustrates me no end that people know they can just throw a fit until the other (who is doing their job, in the right) gives in. Once this happens and others see it, there is another (albeit few and rude) guest willing to look a fool to get their own way. As I said.. thank God most people aren't that way.
