BWV Map? (I have searched, I promise!)

Both types, or just the 2Br? BW view, or some other category?

All 9 of my stays at the BW have been in BW view one bedrooms, and in all but one case the ressie included that "tub please" (WINK WINK) request.

And in none of the stays was I given an HA. Given the number of BW view 1 bedrooms and the fact at least two are confirmed HA, the laws of probability would argue my "luck" isn't a random outcome.;)

I'm not sure what point you are making - that because you've never stayed in a HA with the no-tub request means that there is a one or two bedroom HA unit at BWV without a tub? Seems more likely that your tub request is being correctly interpreted by the front desk to mean "non-HA" than that such a room exists with no reports of it.

I'm not sure what point you are making

I was simply asking for a clarification in your comment that you had stayed in "a" HA villa (presumably either a 1Br OR a 2Br) at BWV. You didn't indicate which.

I suspect it was the latter, because the footprint of a 1BR at the BW - which has a split bath -- can''t accomodate a large roll-in shower without taking space away from the Jacuzzi part of the bathroom. That wouldn't be an issue in a 2Br with its two baths (one could be "cannibalized' for the roll in shower without affecting the jacuzzi tub in the other).

As for the theory that a request for a villa with a tub is just "secret" CM code for "try and make sure they don't get an HA," I think that's a wild stretch. If all HAs have tubs, it makes no sense, and in fact (given typical DVC CM check in desk confusion) could raise the likelihood of getting an HA; why not just make the request straightforward (guest requests a non HA villa)?"

The "wink-wink-request-a-tub)" suggestion I got from the CM on the other hand makes perfect sense. It's a subtle, backdoor way of asking for something that sounds perfectly reasonable if not important (they requested a tub, my, they must have small children or shower paranoia, we have to give them that tub) while avoiding the risk of seeming potentially insensitive with a "I don't want one of those #$*@& handicap rooms" request.

Have you ever stayed in a Handicapped room with a roll in shower?

We have stayed in both rooms with roll in showers and without them at OKW and at SSR. I have also seen a roll in shower room at BCV (although we didn't stay in it). We have stayed in a regular one and two bedroom at BWV, so I can compare the floor plan of those with the other resorts. The general floor plan of the villas is not the different

The "footprint" of the bathroom is the same in the handicapped 1 and 2 bedroom as in a regular room. The part with the Jacuzzi is exactly the same in the accessible room as in the non accessible room. I believe the tub is possibly a little lower and there have been grab bars at the jacuzzi in the HA rooms we have been in.
People think roll in showers must be huge, but actually the roll in shower is not that much larger than the regular shower. It just doesn't have the glass walls and glass shower door. Room for the roll in shower is made by re-arranging things in the part of the bathroom that has the sink, toilet and shower.
The attached pictures are the roll in shower in a 1 bedroom SSR villa and the jacuzzi at a 1 bedroom SSR villa.

And the bigger picture that there is a link to is a regular shower in an SSR 1 bedroom. You can see from the pictures, that the roll in shower doesn't take up that much different space and that the floor plan of SSR is a lot like BWV.

However, I'm not at all sure about the theory that "lots of people have read to ask for a tub."

Why? Not only have I never seen that recommendation here or on any other DVC related web site, but I actually picked that nice little "tip" from a seasoned DVC ressie CM back in 2001.
Between the different DVC boards on this site, it has come up as a 'tip' fairly often - maybe once every 3-6 months since I started on the DIS boards in 1999. There are not whole threads about it, so you would not see it unless you happen to read that thread. I have usually found the posts when doing a search for 'wheelchair' or 'handicapped'.

Was this thread hi-jacked or what? pirate:

Woe is the day beachblanket and bicker meet on a thread and disagree

Why do you think bicker chose that paticular screen name? I'm guessing that it wasn't because he loves using Bic ballpoint pens!
