Some sources also reference "ice cream novelties," which at WDW is code for "Mickey Bar"

We were there last May and there were no "ice cream novelties". We were told to go to the General Store. NOT!

I too am distressed over lack of food (other than gross wrapped sandwiches) at Leaping Libations. We just bought points at BWV and that was the one thing that made me question whether I should or not.

I have to ask, how "bad" are the gross wrapped sandwiches? I'm picturing soggy, bland sandwiches?

We received a call back from Disney on this and they said they removed the snack items because they were not included in the Dining Plan. Aren't the snacks included in the Dining Plan at Hurricane Hanna's at the BCV?

The lack of food at the pool, as well as no quick serve type spot, are the things that irk me about BW. Yes, I knew about there being no quick serve but after we bought, they took away the food at the pool. We really enjoy sitting at the pool, having some lunch and relaxing. Having to go to the Screen Door or to a kiosk on the boardwalk are not what I call relaxing.
So, in the future, we'll head to a more accomodating resort during the summer months.

We were there over Christmas and there were no apps type of food. They just had sandwiches and chips.

The sandwiches were far from gross wrapped sandwiches IMHO. :) They are the same sandwiches served as paninis at the Bakery on the boardwalk, it's just they are not cooked.

While the selection is really sparse, IMO what they had wasn't too bad.

We really miss the nacho's and hotdogs at the BW pool bar. I don't want to walk out to the kiosk on the Boardwalk in my swimsuit. And that kiosk only takes cash, no charges.

When I talked to the bartenders last summer, I was told Disney had standardized the pool bars. Same specially drinks and snacks at all the pool bars. :sad2: I got the impression, they've had lots of complaints about the changes.

Anyone been to the Boardwalk lately and know if there are more options food wise at Leaping Libations?

Thanks!

Just got back. They have a few different sandwiches and small bags of chips and that's it. They ran out of several ones daily. So, not much change at all.

We really like the turkey sandwiches, a cold beer and chips there for lunch. Are these still available? I'd hate to see it go since on "pool day" we just get lunch there and I wouldn't want to have to leave the pool to go eat.

Just another reminder that you can eat off of the room service menu, and have it delivered rigth to the pool if nothing strikes your fancy

Spoodles will deliver a pizza to the pool area for you.

And if you ask...the bartender will make a Roller Coaster Meltdown even though its not on the beverage offerings! :goodvibes

what about the Boardwalk Bakery? I thought I had heard that their lunch and breakfast sandwiches were actually very good--are they not on the DDP?

Well, In November, they (Bakery) had panini's (some love 'em, me I think so-so)
They are made off site (found out when DW wanted a plain bread/meat/cheese one with no "fancy" spread) and "grilled" to order.
Yes, they were on the DDP. (Unfortunately it was the only CS available at BWV then) If you do not mind a walk, BCV has more CS options, including a few more standard (and good!) sub sandwiches we picked up on the last day to use up our last few credits)

At the time you could get a few (2 or3) Bakery products (including gigantic cinnamon rolls!) and a drink as a CS credit! There was also breakfast paninis

One of the big turnoffs for us at BWV is ther lack of "in resort food options". Late night or early morning snacks always meant a stroll to the boardwalk. Same while at the pool. This is a real pain in the rear when raining!

The resort itself is very nice but we prefer BCV because of the many food options without having to go "outside" the resort. We understand the "boardwalk" theme but I would think that they would provide a little more internally for pool goers and the such.

Earlier last month, we were at the pool bar--and you just described our lunch! We really liked the turkey sandwiches--and the cold beer. :thumbsup2
