Anyone wish they would bring back the snacks at the BWV? My kids loved to be able to order a hot dog or nachos or even an Itsakadoozie pop. Now they have next to nothing. You either have to order room service and pay through the nose or stroll down the Boardwalk in your suit to find something at the general Store. Management claims that they were not selling enough to justify the expense. That's not what the bartenders told me. I've sent emails to no avail. Same story every time.

If memory serves, I think some snacks like popcorn and pop, (and maybe ice cream bars?) might be available to purchase at Community Hall. Still a bit of a walk from the main pool but not too bad. We're sad that ESPN doesn't have take out any more because we used to bring that back to the pool.

I hear you. As a BWV owner, I'm also annoyed every time we arrive and head down to the pool, at the sight of an over-sized limited-service bar. From what I've heard, the only food available there now is chips and a very small selection of pre-made cold sandwiches.

Given the size of the resort and the load at the pool, I don't buy the "there isn't enough demand" argument at all. Put decent food next to a resort pool and the business will come. Also, if SAB across the lake gets a full service CS right next to the pool, why can't BW?

Does anyone know if the Boardwalk To Go Kiosk is still in existence? I think it became seasonal at one point, only opening during peak times. It wasn't there during our last 8/05 visit.

yeah I remember when this came about, I was surprised then and still am now.

I dont buy the not enough was being sold argument either and furthermore I really dont even think I would care if that were true.

honestly it doesnt even make much sense, how can they not be selling enough? whats enough? what overhead is there for cooking up hot dogs and hamburgers over there?

I just dont get it

We always enjoyed some light lunch there and I am surprised in the changes. They were never at a loss for customers. I am not sure of their reasoning, but now I will just have more foods in our villa fridge to choose from.

More confusion on the above: a Boardwalk to Go menu dated 10/07 is listed on Allears.net. But the kiosk isn't listed in the food/dining section of the Boardwalk pages in the new member guide I just got. Again, can anyone who has been at WDW recently confirm whether the kiosk was open? And if so, exactly where on the Boardwalk was/is it?

I hope it's there when we arrive at the Boardwalk next month. :tinker: The selections sound great for late night or poolside munchies:

Even the Boardwalk to go kiosk would be an improvement from what they have now but they are never open during the day when you are at the pool!

If it was truly not hurting for business, why would they want to shut it down?
We all know Disney doesn't pass up an opportunity to make money, so that doesn't make sense to me..

I've never seen that "Boardwalk to Go" thing - we usually travel in August. The prices on theat menu sound almost reasonable, too. Our last experience with "Leaping Horse" was two years ago. The drink prices were in the $9 range, with a souvenir cup. I figured it must be a nice cup, but it was just an unusually-shaped plastic cup - I don't even think it had a Mickey on it! Even a frozen drink with no alcohol was very expensive. The place did not seem to be doing much business. We passed...

If Maxwell is right, when it is open its only at night.

As for location, it isn't at the Jellyrolls end of the complex. Both times we've been at BWV in August we've had an upper floor BW view villa in that area and by vacation end are intimately familiar with everything at that end of the boardwalk - and that list doesn't include any sort of "kiosk" selling food.

I dont know, but sometimes I wish they would take a step back and not focus so much on the money aspect

sometimes its the whole package that has to be looked at not just this part and that part

not that the food there was a deal breaker, but I hate when I start to see all the little fringe things go

slice off a little here and little there and before you know it you are wondering where all the stuff went

I do indeed agree with your thoughts.
Even if I never ate at Leaping Horse, it still enhances my trip knowing it's there if I want it.
The same can be said about many things at WDW. :smokin:

I think those prices are from the hot dog cart right on the Boardwalk. We have gotten them a few times - it is very reasonable and I have a weakness for onion rings on vacation! It is open later in the day - we just saw it last August.

I don't ever eat at the pool, so don't remember any food offerings. Or they were too expensive. I just would bring our own snacks and drinks down from the villa I think. It is a shame if they don't have snacks or lunch there! I do think the drinks were fairly pricey - which I don't mind sometimes on vacation (like at Epcot I'll pay whatever) but if you have a villa, you can just bring a couple down with you. $1 beer beats a $5 one in that case!

The lack of food at the pool is very inconvienent! It is a pain to leave the pool area and go out to the Boardwalk to get food and then have juggle it all back. Since I have to leave the pool, I just go back to the room and get our own! I also mix a drink for DH and myself and save a bundle! $9 for a drink is just crazy!

I too wish they would bring back some bar food...

The last time I was there you could order off the room service menu and have it delivered poolside, has that stopped?

I, too, would love to see atleast a small selection of appetizers be available at the pool bar. I feel like dining options are too limited at the BW to begin with (no real CS), and not having food at the pool just adds to it...

thats a good idea, dont know the current status on that, but why not? they either deliver it to your room or the pool, whats the difference really

I also don't understand why BWI and BWV does not have
a counter service place.....

makes absolutely NO sense.....

vacation is about CONVENIENCE.....why should I have to take a hike
to get some food:confused3

Room service will deliver to the pool area - I've done it plenty of times for lack of anything else. Hate paying that high gratuity though!

Also ate from the kiosk on the BW - it's located in front of Spoodles. We were there the last week of November and it was open around 2pm in the afternoon. We've also ordered food there to take to the pool; but as another poster mentioned, it is a pain having to walk out there. Also, if I remember correctly, you can't charge your purchases to your room card.

We had to hike out on the BW in wet suits to get something... We haven't stayed at BWV since then... because of that and no kids club.

To be fair, turtle pond shack at OKW is often closed....

So now I just call for pizza, walk in my swimsuit to the beautiful lobby, and pick it up... get strange looks, but if they can't deliver decent food then we'll buy else where (the pizza thru OKW / PO is expensive and horrible).

Keep writting to management. Emails they ignore.
