BWV Boardwalk View?

I'm bummed. Called MS for a May BWV Boardwalk view and I think the CM laughed at me under her breath. :sad2: Thought I would give it a try. :sad2:

Wow, really? I thought that the boardwalk views were easier to get because of the higher point cost. I'm hoping to book a 1BR boardwalk view when the 7mo window comes up. Is it even possible for an early November trip?

Unlikely, November is Food and Wine and Boardwalk fills early.

60% of the resort is "preferred view" - non-Boardwalk non-Standard View. They cost the same number of points as Boardwalk View. When people call, nearly everyone prefers either standard view or Boardwalk View, so once the resort is 40% full, there are preferred view rooms left.

Preferred View rooms generally look at the pools and/or the Swan/Dolphin.

Stupid question... Does BWV have any ground floor BW-view rooms? Any ground floor rooms period? If so, is your patio fenced in?

On the Boardwalk only a very few where the old Sales Center used to be.

The rest of the resort has them, patios are not fenced in.

I got a BW view for our July trip and I am so excited. We'll be there for the first 4 days and then off to SSR for 6 days. We booked a BW view instead of standard because we have points to use up. Otherwise I'd probably just book standard. Now of course, once we stay BW view we might not want any other view when staying at BWV.

Ironic that the "preferred view" is not what people prefer :p

And that "standard" rooms are not the "standard" at all. That's why I (and several other DISers) always pop into these discussions to try and explain this. Its very easy to come away believing that "standard" is "standard" and therefore easy to get and that "Preferred" will have you looking at the Boardwalk - and over the years that has led to a number of disappointed folks who didn't understand what they were booking, or what the availability for their desire was like.

We just finished booking our next 2BR Boardwalk view for New Years 07-08. We haven't had the BW view in a couple of years so this will be something to look forward to.

See you NYE 07-08 :wave2:

We always have a preferred view except for last time they gave us a room that looked out over the boardwalk! I thought they were impossible to get it must have been pixie dust!

I always choose Boardwalk view, and like the higher floors because on those nights I poop out early, I can have a glass of wine on the balcony and watch the street performers and often some of the fireworks of Illuminations and in the right rooms, even some of Wishes. There is nothing like going to sleep with a view of the Spaceship Earth after a bath in the bubble tub to soothe those tired feet...
I know people like to book standard view to save points, but for me it would be SO wrong.

Boy, I wish I was there now.
I always feel so lucky to get to live like the Queen of the Boardwalk! That is what DVC does for me. I really feel like I own the place.
When I wake up on my last day of vacation, my first thought is... they are going to have to drag me out of here kicking and screaming. :sad2:

We recently returned from our first stay at BWV (rented points) and did we ever luck out! We requested 2 studios close to each other - we got 2 adjoining rooms facing the Village Green, 3rd floor, huge balconies, about 6 or 8 doors from the elevators. Pixie dust from the get-go! :thumbsup2

I think if we return, I'll be requesting these rooms again - partial boardwalk view but just a little quieter.

I have a May one bedroom Boardwalk View and I can't wait. I guess I need to call and request a high view. I did not know there were some on the low levels. We had a studio last Sept for one day that was preferred view...it almost overlooked the Boardwalk. It was awesome... I loved it.
