We are staying in a studio at the BWV in Sept.

We are waitlisted for a Boardwalk view, but if that is not available, can anyone suggest a good section???

Thanks!

We enjoyed the quiet pool/Community Hall view. Very peaceful and plenty scenic enough for us. :)

We have always enjoyed that area too. One other reason we like it is because it cuts about a 1/4 of a mile off the walk to MGM if you use the back door from that wing. But it is far walk from the elevator.

If you booked BW view, that is guaranteed. If you are PV garden/pool, you could request any of the 3 'courtyards i.e. 3 sides of rooms the open end facing the quiet pool, the big pool or the 'croquet lawn, Swan/Dolphin view.

I lucked out and got a 'croquet lawn' view with Standard View. I liked it...I could see TOT and Fantasmic and was very close to the canal and the bridge over to Swan/Dolphin. It seemed the quiet pool would be nice too. I wasn't sure if I'd like the big pool view though...many rooms seemed to have a 'blocked' view in that area (with trees or the coaster slide ).

I have read here that the worst PV is on the very end of the wing leading out from the entrance to the parking lots. THe back end has a few rooms that really look out over the parking lot/tennis courts. I think those rooms should be standard, but I guess they are 'overflow' PV. I'd complain if I got those rooms!!!!

I have a question: are the rooms that overlook the Courtyard on the Crescent Lake side of the BWV....preferred view or BW view???

Thanks! I have BWV studio in October and have yet to request anything. From what I've read, a high floor over Big River Grill seems to be the most rec'd views. Opinions?

I have never had one of those rooms but I have heard that the rooms that look out onto the "village green" area are considered preferred view and not Boardwalk view.

We had a Boardwalk view last year and I think it's the best view of all the DVC resorts and right up there as one of the best hotel room views at WDW. Have fun.

We have stayed many times at the BWV and loved all the views. At Xmas we couldn't get BWV so we were "stuck" with courtyard! We we arrived I couldn't believe how great the view was. All the Xmas decorations including the big tree in front of the courtyard was unbelieveable. Could see most of the boardwalk and really easy to walk down a few flight of stairs and be on the boardwalk in a few seconds.

I guess I found out that some of the fun is trying a new view or a new resort so sometimes if you don't get what you want, just wait and see and be surprised!

FYI - most of the Village Green view rooms are studios so you may have a chance for it if you have a preferred studio booked.

We have allways stayed in the standard view. We enjoy seeing all the people coming and going to the resort. We get to stay longer and still have all the BWV perks. We did not find it at all loud and if you stand on the patio you can see most of the fireworks. I should be there again in a few days. :earsboy:

I thought standard views are hard to get -- ???

They are about 20% of the rooms. BW view is another 20% and the remaining 60% are preferred pool/garden. Standard and BW view tend to go first.

I have a standard view reserved for Oct. So does that mean i will most likely be looking out to the entrance of the BW? Where guests drive up to? Is there any chance of getting a view of the actual BW area?

Is there anything in particular I should request? this is my first time staying at this resort (I AM SO EXCITED :Pinkbounc ) and I am renting points so I would love some tips and suggestions! I was just about to start a new thread but I figured I would just add to this one.

thanks!

Almost certainly.

No, not from your room. But you'll only be a few steps away if you want to be there yourself.

Unless you need to be close to the elevators (strollers, wheelchairs, ECVs or otherwise can't do stairs), ask for an upper floor across from the bus stop. If you are lucky enough to be placed in that area, you will probably have a view of the higher level fireworks from IllumiNations from your balcony. You will be close (via stairways) to the MGM pathway, the Community Hall/quiet pool area and the bus stop. There is quite a bit of nice landscaping and flowers between the villas and the driveway - you'll have a nice view.

Just keep in mind that no matter which room you get, you'll still be at the BWV (great location) for a bargain price! FWIW, IMHO, there are no bad rooms/views at the BWV and we stay in the standard views almost every time.

Best wishes -

Which explains why we have never had one. We always get a 2BR. Thanks Debbie.

Thanks, carolmn!!! I appreciate the tip about room location...I guess I will ask the DVC member I am renting from to please put that request in for me.

Believe me, I KNOW I am going to LOVE  the BW. I have so many friends tell me it is there favorite resort. I cannot wait to have easy access to Epcot and F&W Fest! And I have not been to MGM since the mid 90s so we will definitely spend a lot of time there! And just to be able to pop into the actual Baordwalk...or Y&BC...or Swalphin...at whim...that will be incredible!

We are "usually" balcony sitters...we always bring a bottle of wine and we love to just check out the view. We are always so pleased with the courtyard view at the WL. I told my DH that while this view at the BWV may not be as spectacular, the fact that we are in such a central location at such an incredible price is well worth it! :Pinkbounc

Thanks again, and any other tips from experienced "BWVers" will be appreciated! :earsgirl:

The past two times we stayed at the BW, we had the boardwalk view. It is indeed very nice. Both times we were in the "Crest O' The Wave" section (rooms 5007/5009 and 4007/4009). The views were great, and I loved watching the boats.

Our next trip, however, we booked the standard view. We decided it was time to try something new, and we could also save a few points. I'm sure we'll end up booking the boardwalk view again, though, since it was great to people watch from. I do think it may be interesting to have a room over the front entrance, though, as we could watch people come and go. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a *great* standard view. ;)
