BWV Availability During October....Give it to me straight...

The questions comes in that how many rooms are being taken out of service for the refurb and how many people do not want to put up with the refurb. This is going be a hard one to figure out.

Are you referring to the current BWV refurb or is there an upcoming BCV refurb on the horizon?

I'm so discouraged because I looked at the availability tracker at BWV and the standard 1BR's are 100% AVAILABLE for the entire months of August and September. In October, they are open EXCEPT for the 9th and 10th (Columbus Day) and then 4 of the 7 we need:sad::sad::sad:. We would be OK with a split stay, but we'd prefer to do at least 3 nights, but it won't work....it's the first two and the last one that are available:furious:.

The BCV is showing similar (wide open) availability so should I get my hopes up? The BWV has me confused because it is just that week that has 4 consecutive days that are unavailable...not even during the 4th of July holiday are there more than 3 nights filled:confused3.

The upcoming refurb at BCV.

Columbus Day weekend is the problem. It's quite popular and busy. But are you also looking at the pool/garden view? They are usually similar points to BCV. Just another option to have.

Well, the pool/garden view WAS a back-up plan, but because it is more points, I booked the first two nights in a studio at AKV (using our home resort points). Of course, that's not looking good either because it is also unavailable for nights 3 and 4. If we are going to do a split stay, I want it to be a 2/5 or a 3/4...I'm not interested in settling in for 4 nights and then moving for 3. If BCV is open, then we will do 2 our first two nights in a studio at AKV (and I will probably waitlist the studio at BCV just on a miraculous chance that something comes open for that Sat and Sun night) and move to the BCV 1BR for the last 5 nights.

At 7 months, what would my chances be for a Mon-Fri (5 nights) in a 1BR Pool/Garden view? We could drop down to a studio at AKV, but I'd prefer to be in a studio for only 2 nights instead of 3. We would have enough points to do 2 nights in a value studio (a.k.a. "The Closet":rotfl2:) and then we'd have exactly enough points for a preferred 1BR for 5 nights at BWV.

I'm just thinking a lot of this through and trying to be realistic. Of the 10 of us that are going, I am the only one who has ever stayed at BWV. Ironically, it was in a 1BR standard view booked at 7 months for October 2011 for three nights...without a waitlist:thumbsup2. Everyone else has stayed at AKV and OKW only so we'd like to try something new if we can. We all love AKV too so that is a fine back up plan.

good luck booking 'the closet' outside 11 month window.

backup plans are one thing, a wish list is another. Suggest you secure something now to accommodate your group then try to flip it at 7 month window.

My saga (and anxiety!) keeps growing:scared:...

Tuesday, our 7-month window opens...and I have NO ideas! Well, OK, I have a LOT of ideas, but all of them involve a lot of stress and anxiety.

Our dates: Oct 15-22

As of today, the 15th, 20th and 21st are unavailable at BWV. I see the chances of getting 4-5 nights in a row dwindling...
Yesterday, I was stunned to see THE ENTIRE WEEK available in a 1BR value at AKV...my home resort. So it got me thinking...

Since we love to eat at Boma on our departure day, what if we try to START at BWV instead of END there? Hmm...that won't work right now because that first night is not available. Then, I remembered that the rest of the family does not want to go to a park on our (their) arrival day so we are planning to eat dinner at Disney Springs on Saturday. We've never stayed at Saratoga Springs:idea:....so I'm thinking about booking a studio for the 15th at SSR. Then, if I'm lucky, we can move to BWV for the next 4 nights and finish the trip in a 1BR value at AKV for the last 2 nights. This will make it super easy to eat at Boma for breakfast on the day we leave:thumbsup2. I would waitlist for the arrival night at the BWV, just in case it comes available so that we would only have to move one time. This is probably the "best" plan in regards to maximizing our time with the rest of the family, but it comes with the cost of moving twice and stressing about a waitlist.

I also have another, probably more doable scenario....

I have another reservation right now for our first two nights in a standard studio at AKV-J. If I keep that reservation, and if there is availability, we can do a 1BR LV at BLT for the last 5 nights. This isn't really ideal since it would mean that we would not be staying with the rest of the family at all, but it would probably be the easiest reservation for us to get at this point. We have no problems with OKW or AKV, but we've stayed at both of them, more than once, and this will probably be our last family trip to WDW for a while. I'd really like to try something new and BLT is one we have not tried as a family.

To add to my anxiety, I still haven't decided if we will be flying out on Saturday afternoon (from Flint with the rest of the family) or surprising the kids by flying out of Grand Rapids on Friday night. It will cost about $350 more to fly out on Friday and stay at the airport Hyatt that night (which is the ONLY hotel option I will consider), but we could take DME the next day and spend some time in a park before meeting the rest of the group at Disney Springs for dinner. I've actually booked DH, DD13 and DD11 on the flight from FNT using points, so *I* don't even have a flight to MCO yet!

The rest of my family is starting to stress about ADR's:eek:...good grief! We don't even have a place to stay!:scared1:...heck, I don't even have a ticket to get there yet.

Sometimes there are just too many options with DVC! ;)

...heck, I don't even have a ticket to get there yet.

:rotfl2: I'm just finalizing my airfare for our trip in 30 days! And the rest of my family will be doing the same hopefully this weekend but might be next week.

Even though I already posted it elsewhere, I thought I would come back and update this thread with the final result...

We managed to book a 1BR P/G at BWV for the first 5 nights and a value 1BR at AKV for the last two. We decided to fly out of GRR on Friday night and stay at the MCO Hyatt. Everyone is pretty excited and I can't wait until the F&W information starts coming out.

That's great news Kristen. I'm hoping to get a 2 bed next September before F&W, at 7 months. I'm lucky we're all happy with OKW or AKV.

We also have a Spring Break trip planned and want BC or BWV but I know that will be almost impossible, BLT will due nicely.
