Has anyone received their BWV annual meeting notice and budget breakdown? I received the BCV awhile ago, but no BW yet. Thanks.

I plan on attending, too, but I'm leaving in a few days--I thought it would be nice to have the budget to look over prior to the meeting. Oh, well...
Thanks for your response. I'll watch the mail. :)

Did you notice the Annual meeting starts 10 minutes prior to the membership meeting. Just enough time to make a motion, second it, any discussion and the vote.

It's all legal (knew that when I bought), just amused on how effecient a meeting can be run.

At the annual board of directors meeting, there isn't any discussion. That is the member's meeting and Q/A after it. 'Their' meeting is VERY quick - don't blink.

I meant discussion between board members.

Being a new member and haven't attended an annual meeting, what is covered at the members meeting?

Just reread that last post. You mean the board doesn't have a discussion among themselves before the vote? WOW!!

I attended the meeting in 2000. The board meeting is very quick, just a formal acceptance of the resolutions, they probably discussed it before. The member meeting was a presentation of the dues, some information about upcoming projects, and then they have a Q & A with members in attendance. They timed it and said it would end in 1 hour (total meeting). Afterwards they were available for individual questions.

Most efficiently run board meetings are like this. All pertinent information has been disbursed to the board members prior to the meeting. It is the board member's responsibility to read the information and contact appropriate committees for clarification before the board meeting. The board's responsibility is then to either approve, reject or send the report/motion back to the committee. Very little discussion is required, but that opportunity is offered before voting.

The DVC meetings are very efficiently run and are a timely event, but provide no opportunity for comment from the members. (Member concerns should have already been presented to the board before the meeting). The member's meeting follows and does offer an opportunity for some interaction by owners of the resort. Each meeting is specific to the resort, but other owners are still welcome to attend.

Enjoy!

A couple of questions i would like to throw out.

If a member wanted to bring a motion/suggestion before the board to go out to the members, what are the requirements to do so?

How are the votes distributed amoungst membership? By individual Deed/Contracts or number of points in ownership?

thanks

The members do not have votes, it is not like a shareholder meeting for a corporation. There is a member representative on the board, but they vote their own mind not through a vote of the membership.

Members can bring up suggestions during the Q & A portion that the board can address, but the board is in control.
