Are there maps anywhere which show location of various size rooms at Beach Club Villas and Boardwalk Villas? I read somewhere that the 1 bedrooms at both are furtherest from elevators, etc., and am curious as to the truth of that. Also, trying to pick home resort and factoring in size of units -- any handy place with square footage info on BWV and BCV units? (I have an older site with info but it doesn't include these two newer resorts) Thanks!

Last week I asked at the front desk of the BC about BCV room locations & received an overall map. The CM (a management type) said they did not have a map with specific room numbers listed. He told me how the room numbers are arranged, etc.

Like at the Beach Club? Any info from him about placement generally like certain size accommodations being in particular areas? I had heard that the standard view 1 bedrooms were all at far end of hallways. That is the unit we would normally get, and I really dislike those hallways that never end!

I have stayed in a Standard view 1BR at the Boardwalk that was very close to the elevator. We looked out right over the Porte Cache where everyone was pulling up to check in. As for square footage, I believe I read somewhere that BCV units are very similar, if not the same as VWL and BWV. I'll be able to guage this better after I stay at BC in a 1BR unit in January. OKW units are the ones that are significantly larger than the rest in square footage. And yes, the villas at BW are separate from the hotel/inn like at BC, but they are connected by the same lobby/check in area. (I think that is what you were asking?)

Here is some BCV Resort Layout information that may help answer some of your questions. None of the resorts have maps offering detailed room information, but there are maps of the resorts that show the general layout.

Good Luck!

That is a help. I mostly want to be sure that we don't have the same trek we had in the Boardwalk when we stayed there in '99. Off the elevator, down the hall, make the turn, down the hall, walk a mile more, then finally to the room!

Definitly check out the map for the location of the BCV rooms because some of the BCV rooms are also a walk. Since both BWV and BCV are located in large hotels with many rooms, there are long hallways, if you do not want a room that requires walking from the elevator then request a room close to the elevators. The longest walk from the elevator at BWV to the farthest villa is about a 4 min walk, so if 4 minutes is too long then definitly request a room close to the elevators and you will be at your villa within seconds. I greatly prefer the villas as far from the elevators as I can get because when booking a standard view villa, they have wonderful views and are very quiet without the hustle and bustle of the main enterance(which is where the standard view villas are located that are close to the elevators), to us a 4 min walk is nothing considering the villa/views we get when we enter our room, but our family is all adults so YMMV. I would much rather walk 4 min in an air conditioned hallway with hidden mickeys to spot in the carpet along the way then trek up flights of stairs in the heat and humidity.

All adults makes a difference, I am sure. That is the main problem, the kids either forgetting something and having to go back just before we were catching the ferry, or when heading home for the night and that hallway seemed miles and miles to trek. :D

Those hallways are THE major reason we don't stay at BWV. I can deal with the tiny rooms, I can deal with the high point schedule, and since BWV members are paying the high dues, they don't bother me either. I can go down one flight of stairs, that is all there is to the ground of a GV, get in my car and drive to the general store and back fast than I can walk to somewhere at BWV.

Those endless halls are the biggest drawback to BWV for me.

Another reason why I love OKW. Having your car a few steps away is wonderfully convenient, besides the accommodations being so much larger. I am seriously thinking next trip of a few days at OKW for MGM, Epcot and Downtown Disney, then a couple at WVL for our MK/Ft. Wilderness activities. I love the overall location of Boardwalk and Beach Club because of Boardwalk itself and ability to walk to Epcot, but there are some trade-offs, for sure.

I have to agree with DeeP if you don't like the walk then request a room closer to elevators, after all you are at Disney and walking is a big part of your day. I don't think 4 min at the end of the day is a big deal and I've done it after major back surgery and with a bad left knee (need replacement) this last July. Just be happy that it's air cond. and you can still injoy walking.

Maybe we can get DVC to put in some mini- trams ( like they use in Wildwood, N.J. on the boardwalk) for use in the hallways to take quests to their rooms. (just kidding I think)

(beep beep) WATCH THE CARS , PLEASE

Like Richyams says he doesn't like the long halls either and that's fine. I would suggest if the walk to the rooms at BWV & BCV are to long for some of us that maybe we should stay at OKW with Richyams. ( we know you love OKW Richyams;)

We just returned from a stay at BCV(2 bedroom) and I had requested close to the elevators and we were given a handicapped room. We were definitely close to the elevators, just a few doors away, but it was not worth staying in the handicapped room(having everything closer to the floor would be miserable for us with a two year old!)I didn't know how different these rooms are, but they are definitely different--we requested to change rooms.

I don't know this for sure, but it does make sense that the handicapped rooms be closer to the elevator, so when you request close to the elevator, you might get a handicapped room. Who knows, that's just my blonde logic at work.

Just an FYI, I don't know all the logistics, that was just my situation.

Also, we found that while our new room was one of the last ones down our hall(room 274, 276), when you went around the back way(behind the villas) the walk to EPCOT and BW was not bad at all; and when you cut across the pool to go to the busses it cuts a lot of walking out too. The walks in all didn't seem as bad as when we were at the BW in '00.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I just went back and re read your op, I thought you were asking these questions because you were thinking of staying in these resorts not because you are considering a home resort for DVC membership! If you are considering a home resort you need to think about a lot more than just the distance from the elevators to the rooms! All the DVC resorts are lovely resorts but they are all VERY different and especailly when comparing OKW to BCV or BWV! The atmosphere is totally different! OKW is like staying in a very nice condo development in the suburbs while BWV & BCV is like staying in a very nice apt in the city, of course both versions are not real life versions but Disney versions so they are even better! LOL! You need to see which atmosphere appeals most to your family and fulfills your families needs/wants on vacation first and then weigh in the pros and cons of room size, parking etc. All the DVC resorts are wonderful and have their own distinct personality but each are very different. BCV and BWV are the two most similiar resorts in regards to atmosphere, location, amenities etc. WLV has a little of both the DVC Epcot resorts and OKW since it has a more secluded/laid back/quiet atmopshere but yet is still a hotel DVC resort with all the hotel amenities and close proximity to parks. Saratoga Springs, I think will also be a combination of OKW with the secluced/laid back/quiet atmosphere, parking at the door, etc but will also have the hotel amenities and close location to Disney entertainment but with an adult twist--PI and DTD!!! If Eagle Pine is ever built I think Eagle Pines and OKW will be very much like BWV and BCV in mirroring each other and will be another pair of DVC resorts that are almost like sister resorts.
All the DVC resorts are wonderful it just all depends on what best suits your family. You can always stay at other DVC resorts but your home resort is the one that most people tend to stay at the majority of times so it makes like a lot easier if your home resort is the DVC resort you wish to spend the majority of your trips at since you will have the adavatage of the 11-7 booking option.
Have fun doing your DVC research and making your decision! You will love being a DVC member, it is like owning your own piece of the magic!!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Obviously there are lots of factors involved, but both DH and my children, particularly youngest son, specifically mentioned how much they did NOT like the hike. Yes, we walked miles and miles at Disney. However, we did not leave the room in the morning and return in the evening, but went back and forth several times a day. Even with the four minute reference (I assume one way) then that is a lot of schlepping down hallways! We love the overall location of BW and BC, but the extra roominess and at-your-door parking of OKW is very attractive, too. I just think that if the villas were arranged in such a way that odds are we would have a looong walk on each trip then it would be enough to turn us off of them. Thanks for the info/input.

As I stated in my above posts........all the DVC resorts are wonderul and all offer a very different DVC resort experience, also all have their pros and cons. It all depends on your tastes etc according to which is the best resort for your familiy's home resort. You can't go wrong with any of the DVC resorts; they are all way above top shelf!

Just an FYI... At BCV the furthest hallway from the elevator is also the closest part of the building to the stairway that leads you right to the parking lot. So if you are driving your own car, this may be of use to you.
