Freaking out! Went last year, and the pool was closed the whole week we were there, scaffolding all over the front of the building, big walls up around the entrance, etc. OK, I know it needs to be worked on, but...

Just got told that it's STILL like that! Going for Oct. 6 - 10, would love to hear that the main pool will be open.

So did I get bad info or is it really all still closed up? When is the renovation going to end?

Thanks!

Actually, the construction is at a peak. Everything is closed, they have actually drained the lake.

ROFLMBO Rich!!!

Actually, I have good news and I have bad news... The good news is, the pool IS open, the bad news is that there are whole sections of the BWV that remain completely out of use!!!

How long has the construction been going on? It feels like forever... I think I read on the boards that the standard views will come next, I say great, I have a ressie for one in November  Oh well... at least the pool is open & the rooms are still delightful!!!

We have been there twice during the construction...also last Sept during the pool closing.....Really didn't notice the scaffolding much...I think this referbishment is about 18months...it's a really big building....

I look at it this way ....at least they are taking care of my investment......:D :D All the construction hasn't affected my vacations at all...

ROFLOL

They are making the Boardwlak shops into parking spaces for the villas. There will be new steps so Rich will have shorter walk from his car.

They drained the lake so the people putting 9 in a studio could set up pup tents to ease the crowding. The pool is open but to keep people from saving chairs at 6:13 am they kept the construction fence up around it and noone can get in, this also saves on paying for gaurds.

I was there end of Aug. The pool was open and fully functional. I hardly noticed the scaffolding-too busy making sure the kids were not drowning!

OMG, I almost spit my drink all over the screen! Rich totally had me for a minute, then I saw that he was the one that posted it. ;) Too funny.

We were there in March (tooooo long ago) and while there was scaffolding over the entire section over the general store area I didn't think it ruined the magic. Sure, it would look better without it, but I guess I'm just happy they're renovating at all. I think the new signs on all of the Boardwalk businesses look *great*!

The only downer is the sour smell coming from the drained lake....

:jester:

For anyone who didn't read this someplace else on this message board, they're having to replace MOST of the siding, by the contractor who did the work in the first place, for free, as it was defective. And it's not exactly a small building.

It was either that, or raze the whole thing and start over ;)

And I'm not kidding about the siding part.

and for those who haven't "met" Rich....when you see his name and BWV together, get ready to laugh (or cry) but don't believe a word. ;)

I was in my office, my phone rang and I haven't had a chance to finish.

The whole post:

Actually, the construction is at a peak. Everything is closed, they have actually drained the lake. They did this to make it easier to replace the boardwalk. They are doing pretty well. The boardwalk from Spoodles to the top of the hill is completely gone. You can see that the new framing has a long way to go.

I am glad they decided to cover the back of the buildings with that white plastic stuff. Just about all the siding has been removed, I am just surprised that they didn't do it a piece at a time. The downside is the argument they are having with the siding supplier seems to have put off delivery of the new siding for a couple of months. This is good, maybe the boardwalk will be done so they can stack it all there.

I hear that the water problems are almost fixed, that broken main should be fixed by the time you get ther, but don't worry, there are offering complimentary bottled water in the lobby.

Just about all the rooms have power again after the accident. I think it was nice of Disney to offer all guests in rooms with no power an additional 5% off the UPH passes.

I guess I've been away from this board too long. We are going Oct. 20-25 staying part at BCV and part at the VWL, so the construction at the BWV won't affect too much. But are you saying the entire lake that the Boardwalk surrounds has been drained? and the Boardwalk is chewed up. Does that mean you can't walk the big circle around?

FICTION= just about everything Rich has stated, and a few things that those who understood the joke added.

FACT= There is still some construction going on at BWV. There is scaffolding around the rooms facing the main pool area, but the pool is open. The extended construction is due to substandard materials being used the first time around. The siding is all being replaced and much of it is finished already. The lake is full and the boardwalk intact.

Geesh guys, cut the newbies a break, will ya?

I really thought this would would keep anyone from thinking I was serious:

I'm just glad that they're not going to put the new generators and waste disposal units between the BWV buildings like they are at OKW (relocating a few of the greens and filling in the lakes). It's a shame that they are going to subdivide the GV's at OKW, too. That will make the GV's at BWV even more difficult to book!Sus;)

Oh wow, Sue! Good comeback! Rich's precious GV's! LOL
