Hello everyone.

My MIL is joining our family vacation, making us 5 people now. We currently have a studio at the BWV. Should we upgrade to a 1 bedroom Villa or get 2 studio rooms and hope they adjoin? Any square footage differences?

Please share your thoughts.

A one bedroom will still only give you sleeping spaces for four - a king sized bed in the master bedroom and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. Studios never connect to other studios, only to one bedroom villas to make a two bedroom lock off.

Are you staying on DVC points? Then you are looking at availability for the time you are going. If it is anytime before mid-Jan, you could have a problem getting a two bedroom villa or any other villa at BWV.

If you are paying cash directly to Disney, they won't let five people stay in a one bedroom villa and you'd have to rent a two bedroom villa.

If you get a second studio, there is no guarantee that it will be close, even on the same floor, as the first.

Another option is moving to another resort if points are scarce (and aren't they always? )

OKW has lower points per night and the biggest rooms. A 2 BR there would be lower points than a 2 BR at BWV (More along the lines of 2 studios). Plus lots of room and 2 full bathrooms!

Hoe that helps and welcome to the DIS!:hippie:

Go with 2 studios and request that they be located near each other. 2 studios will give you 2 bathrooms. Each studio will have 1 queen bed and 1 double sized sleep sofa.

As already posted, there are no connecting studios at the BWV, but there are some studios that are located next to each other. That said, location is just a request - no guarantee.

If you are booking through CRO/WDWTC, you will not be allowed to register 5 in a 1 bedroom (unless 1 of the 5 is an infant under the age of 3). A 2 bedroom unit will be very expensive (my opinion), but ever so nice if you can swing it. :)

If you a DVC member, MS has been allowing 5 in a 1 bedroom. However, no extra bedding is provided, so you would have to bring an aerobed (or similar) to accomodate the 5th person. Bedding is as Deb described in her post. There would only be one bathroom (with a jacuzzi tub & vanity sink in a separate room from the toilet & shower & small sink), but you would have a washer & dryer as well as a fully equipped kitchen.

I will be doing two studios at BWV in May instead of a 2 bedroom. I'll save 72 points by doing so. I don't feel the extra 72 points is worth it just to have a living room that I may use & a kitchen I'll never use. Although, it will be four adults, so we don't mind if we're not close to each other.

The key for me is number of bathrooms - I am abandoning studio/1 bedroom for 2 rooms with 2 bathrooms ....

Thanks for your input. No, I am not using points, and yes, we have a 2 year old with us.
