BWV - 2 Bedroom Standard or Boardwalk View?

Hi! We've been DVC members since '98 and The Boardwalk is our home resort. We've decided to book our next vacation during Christmas, which is a first for us. (We usually go at the beginning of Dec. to avoid the crowds.) I've always booked the Standard View 2 bedroom villa before, but am thinking of going for the Boardwalk View this time. I'd like to know what you guys think? Is the Boardwalk View worth the extra points? Also, I was wondering if it would be just as hard to get a Boardwalk View room as it is to get a Standard View room? Does anyone know what the breakdown is - how many standard view/perferred view/boardwalk view 2 bedroom units there are? Thanks!

It's a matter of preference. If you are someone who enjoys balcony views, a Boardwalk view is one of the best views on the property (definitely worth it to us). We will book standard view only if we are short on points.

There are approximately the same number of Boardwalk view rooms as there are standard view rooms. I think SV are a little harder to get than the BW view, but they are still tough - there's really not that much difference.

We've done both and I prefer standard view. HOWEVER, I think everyone should give the BW view a try at least once. Since Christmas time is so special and so busy in WDW, you may be spending more time in the room than your are used to doing. Maybe this would be a good time to give BW view a try.

kept in mind that Christmas to NY is PEAK time - so very, very expensive.

I might go with standard view this time and try the BW View next time in early Dec.

Thanks for the replies! When I started looking at the vacation planner and noticed that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are both on weekdays ( 44 pts a night for standard view ) I decided to go for it this year. I'm still nervous about the crowds, but we're Disney veterans, so I think we can do it. I think I'm going to probably go for the Boardwalk View this time... Now I have to decide about the new meal plan thing...
