I am hoping that someone here will be able to advise me. My family and I will be staying in a 2 bedroom villa at Boardwalk Villas this December. We rented points through David's Vacation Club Rental. The only other time we stayed at a DVC property was at Saratoga Springs and, since we didn't have a car, we knew we wanted to be near the main building for dining and pool access. With Boardwalk, we aren't sure what to request when we do online check in. Our reservation says that it is for a 2 bedroom lock off with a garden or pool view. Our traveling party will be my husband and myself who are both in our early 30's and our 6-year-old daughter. My mother-in-law might possibly join us for a night or two of the trip (and is on the reservation in case she does decide to stay with us). No strollers or difficulty walking. We will probably go back to the room a couple of times so our daughter can have a midday nap. It would be nice to be able to see Illumination or the DHS fireworks from our balcony, if possible, but I have no idea if that is possible.

Can anyone shed some light on what the options will be when we do online check in? And, would you also be able to give me some suggestions on what would be good to request (near elevator, first floor, top floor, etc?)

In general, if you have any specific requests, you are better off having the owner request them via Member Services than using online check-in.

There are no Illuminations views with pool/garden 2 bedrooms. You could get a DHS view with a pool view. I would request top floor. Fireworks view would not be one of the options on online check-in, the member would have to request.

Thanks. I'll request top floor and ask that the member request a fireworks view. I appreciate it.

Now that I think of it, you may want to say Hollywood Studios view. One time I requested fireworks view and they said there were none.

And keep your expectations realistic - if you look at the map, the angles are wrong for the pool gardens to have much of a view of the studios in the vast majority of rooms.

I had a room over the main pool with a great view of the studios fireworks. Doesn't hurt to ask, no guarantees of course.

They exist, but there aren't many of them and a lot of the desk CMs don't really know where the rooms are. One told me "I've actually never been over there." It never hurts to ask, but it also don't hurt to keep expectations realistic.

Thanks everyone! I'll hope for and request a top floor room near an elevator with a great view of fireworks, all while preparing for a room on an awkward floor, far from an elevator, with Colonel Hathi's army for upstairs neighbors. ;)

The nice thing is that with the right attitude, you'll get through any room location with a great vacation (although the Marlboro Man next door DOES present a problem - although on the bright side, you can discover how nice the rocking chairs are out on the lobby veranda).

Oh no! I hate that. The only thing I hate more is when my balcony is right next door to the Marlboro Man who seems to keep exactly the same schedule as me.
By Marlboro Man I assume you mean a smoker. Smoking is not allowed in any DVC or Disney room, or on any balcony. If you do get a smoker next door, call or stop by the front desk, note the room number so you can tell the staff.
