BWV 1BR -best rooms/views?

I'm looking for standard views, generally nice rooms, and views that don't look out on "garbage" areas---non working areas are fine.
How do we ask for an free upgrade in the view?

Distance to/from elevators aren't are problem-we want to tire out the kids/get exercise--REALLY

I would request top floor across from the bus stop. You have a great view of Illuminations from there. DVC generally does not offer upgrades because they are usually full. I think some of the standard view rooms have better views than some of the preferred views. Some preferred views face the back of the pool slide or only a partial view of the pool.
