I have reservations for both Best Western Park Place Inn and the Tropicana next door. I have stayed in the BWPPI 2 years ago and thought the beds were really hard. Never stayed at the Tropicana. Price is only a few dollars different. Anyone know which beds are more comfortable....softer? Thanks!

I have stayed at both within the last 12 months and in the past multiple times and really have no memory of the beds being different or at all noticeable - which means to me they were fine. I do not like hard beds either so would have noticed and remembered. I like BWPPI slightly better because the mini-suites are a little larger and have the couch.

Hope that helps!

Thanks....appreciate the help.

We stayed at the Tropicana a few weeks ago, but I've never stayed at the BWPPI. I thought the beds at the Tropicana were super comfy. My daughter and I slept like babies every night! Our room was towards the back of the hotel, and I also found it to be super quiet. No complaints from me (nice big room, 2 queens, huge bathroom vanity). I would definitely stay again.

I haven't stayed at the PPI, so I can't compare, but we had no issues with the softness/hardness of our beds at the Tropicana. We are staying there again this year.

Thanks for the replies. Wish I could lay in each and then decide...haha

I recently was debating between these two (plus a few more on my list) and decided to book BWPPI for the fact of being right across the street, a bigger room and free breakfast. I am wondering how much of a difference the breakfast makes? I could book a 2 queen with sofa bed at BWPPI including breakfast for 995.00 or save 300.00 and book a 2 queen at Tropicana with no breakfast. There is four of us which includes 2 13 year old girls. We are not huge breakfast people and I'm not sure if the options at the buffet would be someone's decision making point. I am really trying to cut costs on this trip. Breakfast in the parks would be too expensive. I could even bring some packs of oatmeal from home or something to have in the room. I was really liking the extra space in the room too but we would be fine without it.

I would definitely save the $300 although from earlier replies I heard the roooms are smaller at Tropicana. The BWPPI has a sofa apparently and with 4 in the room, you may like the space unless you just sleep there with no down time. Breakfast isn't even a consideration for me as I always take along cereal , disposable bowls and spoons, and milk and have a little something in the morning while my daughter is getting ready. We aren't breakfast people either so having cereal and/or some granola bars to take along and eat on the way is good for us. The dates for our trip, the price is only different by like $3 so doesn't matter.

The Tropicana rooms are not huge, but if you don't need the table and chairs in the room they can remove them for you (the ones that are by the window) if you need more space. That would still leave you with the desk and chair in the room.

We usually stop by a nearby Safeway (well, I guess it's Ralph's in CA) and pick up some cereal and other snacks to have in the room/carry into the parks. We're not huge breakfast eaters either, so the lack of breakfast at Tropicana doesn't really bother us.

Now, the one character breakfast we did do, Minnie & friends at the Plaza - that was *amazing* and totally worth it! We will be doing that again this year, for sure!

If I was saving $300 (I always have to consider the budget!), I would definitely go with the Tropicana. Keeping in mind it was just 2 of us in the room, but I thought it was huge :upsidedow. We aren't big breakfast eaters first thing in the morning. We had some granola and protein bars, cereal and milk, yogurt..in the room and we were good to go! Took us less time in the morning to 'get ready'.. meaning getting to the park sooner for us. Each morning we would do lots for the first couple of hours and then enjoy a snack/coffee in the park mid-late morning.

Any reviews for The Cove on Harbor Market? Really in the morning could get coffee and a muffin/bagel. Not my ideal breakfast but saw they also had fruit and yogurt.

Overpriced, that is my review. I paid $7 for a 1/2 gallon of milk. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I've heard they have good coffee. I was expecting a better selection of fruit/yogurt/snacks, and it was really quite sparse.

Yep, I agree with the above. The Cove is super pricey. Because of flight delays we didn't end up arriving at our hotel (Tropicana) until about 10:30pm. We were supposed to be there around 7pm, so had planned on getting a few groceries that evening. Because we were so late, I popped into the Cove and just picked up enough to get us through our first morning (2 'cups' of cereal and a small thing of milk). I've also read here that the coffee is good, but I didn't get a chance to try it.. not sure what the prices are like for coffee/muffins, etc.

I generally don't like the breakfast buffets at the motels around Disneyland so that's not a selling point for me. They are generally too crowded and chaotic and I just like the convenience of having something quick in the room before heading out in the morning.

When we stayed at the Tropicana this past January, I had ordered from Amazon Prime Pantry to have breakfast items, snacks, juice and fruit cups delivered to the Tropicana. The box was there waiting for us when we checked in. We only had to buy some milk (expensive, but convenient) at the Cove.

The Tropicana is basically just across the street too. We liked our stay there and would stay again. We had 3 nights in a 2 queen room and 2 nights in an executive Disney view suite. We felt we had enough space in the 2 queen room, but we enjoyed the extra space, and extra bathroom, the executive Disney suite gave us. The main room had a sofa sleeper and the separate bedroom had a king bed with an extra bathroom off of it. Both rooms had a balcony that faced Disneyland.

Oh, and we felt the beds were very comfortable in both rooms we had, including the sofa sleeper.

Yeah, I'm not one of the people who place a lot of importance on a free, hot breakfast at the hotel. Why waste time with it? Grocery delivery is a good option; we've ordered fruit, yogurt, power bars, milk, juice, muffins and bottled water.

The other consideration is park hours vs. breakfast room hours. At some places the breakfast room doesn't open until 6:30 or 7 a.m., and if it's high season and you're trying to get to Magic Morning at 7 a.m., that's just too late.

I haven't stayed at BWPPI, but I did stay at Tropicana in March and I found the bed comfy and not hard. We actually slept really well there, better than usual for us staying away from home.

The Tropicana does have a mini fridge and microwave so I didnt miss the breakfast, which we never use anyway. My son like to have a home cooked breakfast every morning so, since we drive and I can pack everything needed in cooler to take in the car, I just cook at home and reheat in the in room microwave. The night before we go I cook bluberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, and I pack that along with frozen sausage and fruit for breakfast. I also bring up almost all of our food to save money. Since it's usually just my son and me this has never been a big deal.
