BWI Parking Notice

Hmmm..... we're eating at Cape May on our departure morning and will be checked out of our resort before going. So we will be driving.

Does this mean we are likely to have trouble parking at Beach club that morning?

You have an ADR. And you're going to BC not BWI. You should be ok.

(thought I corrected that "shoud" before sending, oops)

It's from the WDW site, on the BWI page.

Exactly. We recommend that hotel guests use the buses. That cannot possibly mean the BWI guests arriving at BWI, because where are they going to leave their cars if they have them? They are talking about non-BWI guests.

Of course, they should have the notice on the OTHER hotel pages, not BWI's, because of just this confusion.

Since the 'announcement' leads with 'pardon our dust' I'm pretty confident that there is an issue of having less space available....to everyone!!! Not just day guests. Nothing is said about limited parking at other resorts. It looks as though it's just BW that's impacted. Maybe they're actually making it a locked lot...hhow nice would that be!!!

Prob not if you have an ADR & aren't going to be more then 3 hrs. Unless the Flower & Garden show or Food & Wine is on.
Don't know what your plans are for your last morning ( how long you'll be in WDW before you have to leave) but you do have the option of leaving your car at your resort after check out till midnight.

Well, if you are talking about someone on the phone when you call the Resort phone number they are not even at the Resort, or Orlando for that matter. They don't have a clue what the actual situation is. They have likely never seen the Resort's lay out at all.

Actually I know this but I know someone on club level so they are at the BWI :) In fact they are paving and along with that they are tired of people using guest parking to go to Epcot or DHS.

I know when calling the front desk or even phone center it is not the BWI but I do have both club number and the actually phone number to a manager at front desk (or should I say behind the scenes) I am not trying to be a smart a** but was stating what I found out.

I think the whole thing has been taken out of context. The Disney site is telling non Boardwalk guests not to drive over to the Boardwalk and park in the self parking lots. No, it's not the best language but Disney is not going to say "hey, people! if you aren't a Boardwalk guest, don't park in the Boardwalk self parking area!" So the communication is done to not make other guests feel stupid.

If, as a Boardwalk guest, you want to park in self parking and not pay for valet, then you should be able to do it. If you can't, talk to the parking lot attendant and see what options you have. Don't bother to call the resort because you aren't talking to someone there, you are talking to a call center. So, there's no need to concern yourself with this until you are actually there.

I agree and this was confirm yesterday when I talked to a CM that I know who told me about the paving. Please see bold to other person quoting me. I am well aware of Disney little tricks & how most of them don't know anything about the resorts.

They are working on paving the lots for now. Told by a friend that work on Club level at the resort. Also to let the non guests (not those who have ADR at the BWI) going to the parks so they don't to pay for parking at the parks.

I wish they would have a gated section for hotel guests. Then let the rest of the spaces for people visiting the boardwalk itself or lying that they are.

There is an overflow lot that is highly suggested to non Boardwalk guests to park in when just visiting.

BWI paved their parking lot during our stay and we HAD to park about a 1/2 mile down and bring our luggage up unless you PAID for valet. When we stayed at the POLY in December we received much notification about possible inconvenience. I have to believe BWI knew before Friday when they posted this that they would be paving the parking lot. They didn't even offer shuttles up to the hotel from down there. The shuttles ran zooming past us carrying the valet attendants. It's a shame that our first night we parked right outside our room at POR and we had to haul our stuff 1/2 mile at the $500+ a night resort. Valet should have been offered for free IMO. Don't think we will be giving them the money next time.

When I was looking at resorts when making my reservation this morning, I saw the notice and thought it was odd. If they're going to waive the fee for people staying there or if there's enough room for them, they should state it with the notice. I wouldn't take offense to that. The notice, as stated, turned me off of making my reservation there. It sounded to me like once I get there I wouldn't have a place to park.

Just wanted to follow up---We got home Friday night after staying Tues-Thursday nights at BWV. The self parking lot that is a little closer to the BWI side was completely closed, but the lot next to the valet parking lot was open. There weren't a lot of spaces, but we had a parking space in the self parking lot. It was a little hike with our luggage (our room wasn't ready when we first got there, so we parked and left luggage in the car), but it was not a huge deal. We did love our stay at BWV.

I'll say this and then I'll put this in the past, it would have been more fair to move the valet parking to the bottom lot and open the valet side for the self-park for this time period. As I said before, the valet attendants rode past us on a shuttle after they parked their cars while we carried all our stuff up-hill to the entrance. My husband also walked down in the rain when we left to get the car while I waited at the entrance with our stuff to pick me up. When he drove up the valets wanted to help us put our stuff in our car?? Things could have been handled better IMO. Probably will be staying at the Dolphin next Epcot trip.

I read it differently. I personally wouldn't worry about having a place to stay, because I read it as referring to outside people coming in (again, silly to have the notice on BW's page).

I think this will not be an issue when the parking lot paving is complete. It probably is already complete by now. It was just our "luck of the straw".

Maybe they're actually making it a locked lot...hhow nice would that be!!!
that's my dream :cloud9:
at the very least: instead of restricting parking for those staying at the BWI/BWV, they should restrict anyone not staying there from entering the resort guest lots, at all times - not just in the evening, or if not a friend, or if they know the "secret word" (yes, that happened, and the word was all over the internet quickly, maxing out the resort guest lot).
of course, BW conventions & parties/weddings should also have parking available, but within reason, and not more than the amount of attendees.

they really have gotten much, much better at restricting parking there, it just needs to be more consistent :)

This surprises me as the "gatekeepers" at BWI/BWV used to be very strict about asking for ID. BW sounds like the CR of the Epcot area until CR cracked down. People used to park there all the time to walk to the MK.
