BWI: How long are the hallways, really?

There is plenty of chatter about the long hallways at Boardwalk Inn, and since we are staying there for the first time on our upcoming trip I'm curious how long they really are.

So if we had the last room on the hallway, how long would it take us to get to the lobby area? We are trying to decide which preferences to choose during online check-in. While being close to the elevators might be nice I'm a little concerned about noise--and thinking a little longer walk would be better received than noise from elevator traffic.

Thanks in advance!

I would estimate 150 to 175 yards. We had close to the last room on the villas side. It seems like forever but its not that bad.

I don't understand the pain with the hallways at the Boardwalk. I think the walk from the lobby to a room at the end of the hallway is shorter than the walk from the lobby to any room at a moderate. Or if you're staying at Beach Club Villas, the walk has got to be MUCH longer to your room from the BC lobby. And the way I see it - I'm inside the whole time. There's occasionally a bench if you need to rest.

In 2010, we stayed at the BWV at the absolutely next to last room, on the top floor. We overlooked the croquet yard and the Swan/Dolphin and the waterway to DHS. Benefit - hardly any traffic outside the door and nothing overhead so the walk was worth it!

Those hallways made me thing of the shining. LOL It really wasn't too long maybe 10 minutes top - I had the furthest standard room from the main lobby.
I didn't mind - the resort is really nice.

My kids thought the YC hallways reminded them of the Shining! The clown pool and the Shining at Halloween time, can't wait!

I stay at the Boardwalk Inn quite often and I never felt the hallways were that long. Hmmm, what do ya know?

I don't think the hallways are actually all that long, but they can sure feel really long after a long day in the park! Part of it (I think) is the perception that for some of the furthest out rooms, you have to walk down a hallway, then turn to another and finally another, so it can seem really far! I think it probably won't take most folks more than 5 minutes to get to the elevator, but it can feel like a long walk.

We stayed at BWV before and kept reading about the long hallways, but we didn't find them bad at all. We were about 3 rooms from the very farthest room from the lobby. Really not a big deal and you're inside the whole time. I think they are greatly exaggerated.

We have stay in the far wing of the Dolphin which faces the YC with an EPCOT view
We never minded the walk to the middle of the Dolphin to get the elevator down to the lobby, then down a flight of stairs and out the doors, then walk down a path to the EPCOT/DHS boats.

yes more than a 10 minute walk - but the view was worth it.

So I assume the same would be for any resort ;)

Yeah, it's loooong. But it feels longer than it really is. Those hallways are BORING! In reality, it only takes a few minutes to get to the room.

My issue with the long walks through the hallways at BWVillas, was not so much the hallways, but when we walked from the parking lot (and sometimes we had to park clear at the back of the lot) and then the long hallways to our room, it did indeed seem like a realllllly long walk.

If you have a standard view, you want to avoid the rooms facing the lobby valet parking entrance and the driveway. I had a room close to the lobby and had people walking by on the way from the bus stop until very late.

I wouldn't worry about them. BWI is Disney's smallest hotel (and it is terrific!). The hallways are all decorated similarly, and most are short with various turns necessary to get to the farthest rooms. So, while the perception is that they are long, they really aren't. Due to the size of the hotel, its just not going to take very long to get from the lobby to any room. If you want to avoid the halls, request to be near the elevator bank. The elevators are centrally located.

We didn't find the hallways very long at BW, and we were pretty far down. I don't get what most people complain about with them, but that's just me. :confused3 There are other ways to get outside too (stairs and a side door) if you don't want to go back to the lobby.

Our family actually like the walks "outside" better than the walks down a long hallway. You get to enjoy the wonderful landscaping, and I do not have to tell my girls to use their low inside voices because the hallways just amplifies it. I think sharadoc really exaggerated when saying "the walk from the lobby to a room at the end of the hallway is shorter than the walk from the lobby to any room at a moderate." We stayed at AKL and was only 2/3 down the hallway and the walk to Mara was right at 10 minutes or longer if you had a decent wait for the elevator. I know the walk from the back of POR is also right at 10 minutes to the FC and when we stayed in the Royal rooms, it was less then 5 minutes, but we enjoyed the bridge or the river, the trees and the occasional rabbits, ducks etc. Either way, 10 minutes is not bad at all, no matter where you stay. Like TeamSy mentioned about people complaining about the walks (at any resort) I also do not get it:confused3 Before anyone mentions "what if it rains", rain does not bother us, we do not melt in the rain.
