Calling all BVC and OKW experts...

We are heading back to WDW in October... we orginally were planning on staying at OKW (our home resort) but now are thinking about BCV.

Which one do you think is better and why?

Where is the best place to stay at each one (bldg/floor/room)? Which one should I avoid?

Help me out here, I can't seem to make a decision:earsboy:

BCV, location, location, location.

You can walk/boat to Epcot & MGM, plus the Boardwalks right across the lake and you'll have Storm-along Bay which is the best pool on WDW.

The Food and Wine festival will also being going on at Epcot starting October 1st.

I might be in the minority, but I prefer OKW. The villas are huge, and you can park your car right at your door. :)
Which makes bringing in groceries and luggage a snap. Or, if you don't have a car, most buildings are super close to a bus stop. And they are never crowded.

At BCV's we walked sooooo far I can't even tell you. The walk from the boat or bus back to our room was insane. The hallway seemed endless. Also we noticed a big difference in the square footage, the villas are much smaller. Oh, and another big pet peeve of mine is the bus situation in that area. Sometimes as many as 7 resorts (YC, BC, BCV, BWI, BWV, Swan and Dolphin) all sharing ONE BUS. And that's not just slow periods... all 7 were sharing just a little over a week ago... and even sharing after MK closed late with two Spectromagics. I had to stand with my two year old asleep in my arms and nobody offered us a seat. It makes me never want to stay in that area again.... that's how bad it is.

So, I say OKW!! ::yes::

It depends partly on the main focus of your trip. Is it a relaxation vacation (OKW) or the parks (BCV). Also, what size unit? For a studio, I prefer BCV (assuming you only need 1 bed). The couch makes it seem more like a furnished apartment-at OKW, you have to sit on a wooden chair or on the bed to watch TV. But 1 BR or larger? Then OKW is much nicer, including those nice large porches. I go to WDW twice a year-in May, a 1 BR vacation, I stay at OKW. Around Christmastime, seeing all the decorations in the parks and the CP, BCV. My 2 favorite resorts!

The size of the room doesn't matter too much (sq ft size) since we don't spend too much time in the room anyway. We get a 1 bedroom because we like the convenience of the kitchen and the washer and dryer.

We are bringing my 12 year old neice with us and we are celebrating a birthday. My neice LOVES the pool and the pool will be closed at OKW for some construction at that time, so I thought that she would get a kick out of Storm-along-bay.

Last July we took at weekend trip and stayed in a studio at BWV and loved the convenience of walking to Epcot and taking the boat to MGM.

LOL Does ANYONE relax at WDW? We never get to...no matter how long the trip is.

I guess what my real question is... if we stay at BCV are we going to be disappointed after staying in OKW?

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you stay at BCV instead of OKW. However, I think the point may be moot if you don't get moving on the reservation. What with the Food & Wine Fest a walk-in from there, both BWV and BCV are filling up very fast and you are within the 7 month window.

We've stayed at both and find that the BCV have some great amenities such as the Stormalong Bay pool (we could spend a whole day here just using the pool), many great restaurants to choose from at BC as well as around the Boardwalk, easy walk to EPCOT and MGM, and great lakeside wooden swings. Plus, we love the character breakfasts and clambake dinners at Cape May Cafe.

We tend to stay at OKW if we're planning a couple of "off" days from the parks and we have a car, since at OKW we can park right by the villa ( at BCV you'd be in a lot).

Good luck with your room reservation-- I've heard that BCV is tough to get with the F&W festival in October. We're staying at Boardwalk at the end October since we were unable to secure resrvations at the 7 month window for BCV.
