I am planning to rent points for an upcoming Disney trip in December. I have been to Disney MANY times but this MAY be my first experience with renting DVC points. I am a little apprehensive, but think this could be a great value. Any tips? I am looking to stay at a one bedroom villa at: Boardwalk, Beach Club or Wilderness Lodge...tips/advice? Any would be appreciated. I am also a passholder, so maybe that discount would be a better value? Ideas to share? Please :)
Thanks!

You may have trouble getting a reservation. Most DVC members who want to stay at the VWL or BCV or BWV in December reserve 11 months in advance. December is a very popular time for DVC members to use their points. Once that 7 month window opens, any remaining availability goes very fast.

There are many December dates already sold out. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but I think you may have missed your chance to rent for December 2009.

My advice is to try for a passholder discount this year and start your rental quest for December 2010 in January. Good luck!

As others have said, it may be difficult to get a reservation for December at one of the resorts you mentioned.

Renting points from a DVC member can save you money, but there are some things to consider vs. paying cash via your AP discount.

First, You don't get daily mousekeeping like you do at the hotels. Second, the member you rent from will be responsible for making all the reservations, including adding the dining plan and/or Magical Express for you. And third, be sure that you understand the rental terms as many members have a "no refund" policy.

Having said all that, renting a reservation from a DVC member can be of great savings and most people have really good luck in doing it!!

Have a great trip!

Choose BCV for the pool, the barefoot ambiance and fastest access to Epcot.
Choose VWL for the woodsy ambiance and fast access to the Magic Kingdom.
Choose Boardwalk for the lively ambiance and fairly quick access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
