BUZZ's Brigade - TEAM CHALLENGE - POST MILES/HOURS HERE

Hi everyone!

My name is Jessica and I'm from the Philadelphia area. I returned to running in February w/ the c25k and after a 5k in May am now looking to do a 10k by the end of summer. I'll also be doing the Disney Half in January. I'm looking forward to talking to all of you over the next few months. Just let me know what I can do to jump in here!

Welcome Jessica!!!! Glad to have you.

Just keep up with your minutes of exercise along with the distance, and report it nice and BOLD for goofyinohio Chris, on Thursdays. Our weeks go from Friday to Thursday.

Glad to have you aboard. :grouphug: Sounds like you've got a good plan going. I just finished my 1st 10K on Memorial Day, and now I'm training for a Half in November. Good luck, and keep us posted of your progress.

Hi Jessica, glad to have you on board.

Sounds like a busy group. Mike, I wish you the best, that can't be fun.

Rozzie, I am bummed. You said 2 weeks put you way behind - don't say that. I am out 2 weeks now going on 3. Maybe next week they will let me ride a stationary bicycle. They said no this week. I feel like a slug.

So the numbers for week ending Jun 26 and July 3 are a big FAT ZERO. I take the stairs at work but that's about all the exercise I get :)

Take care all,
Duane

Duane, Still proud to have you as a teammate. Hope you are soon "back out there"!

Jessica, WELCOME! The half marathon distance is my personal favorite -- and Disney is one of my favorite half's.

Chris, Week ending 7/3 totals:
Hours: 4:30
Miles: 16

Happy holiday weekend to all those enjoying one!

Thanks for the welcome!

Week ending 7/3:
Miles: 19.8
Hours: 4:10

Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend! Anyone doing any races on the 4th? I was hoping to find a 5k, but the nearest one is not worth the drive. I'm planning to get in at least a 5k on my own before the festivities begin tomorrow:)

Thursday arrived too quickly. I wasn't ready. :rotfl:

Miles: 2.61
Minutes: 36

Welcome to the new members! :cheer2:

My totals for the week of 6/27 - 7/3:

Miles: 15.34

Hours: 3:32:41

Ok, I hope everyone has a marvelous 4th of July weekend!

Now, a technical question.....I'm going whitewater rafting with my son and his youth group tomorrow. Would that count as exercise? Now, I couldn't count miles, but we will be rowing HARD for 3 hours. Could I count the time? Just wondering, and want to be fair.

Hi Buzzies!

I have a lot of catching up to do!

Doubling my miles = 52.4 miles and it took me 7 hrs 49 minutes (I think!)

Welcome Jessica!

Duane - Hang in there. You'll bounce back quick!

Rozzie - Glad you're back out there.

Pat - Amazing race report!

I've been really lazy the past couple of weeks. After two real stonker runs in a row, I decided to take it easy and apparently took it easier than I'd planned. Pretty much did nothing! We went to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens last weekend, so I actually took the Garmin and kept track of the miles walked (DD17 called me either a "loser" or a "dork" - can't remember which one!)

Miles/Hours for the last 2 weeks:

Week ending 6/26:
Miles: 10.33
Hours: 2:58

Week ending 7/3:
Miles: 8.92
Hours: 3:27

Have a great 4th!

Jackie

Hi Jessica! :welcome: To our Merry Band!

Made it through the week. Got in a couple runs and some time on elliptical.
So.....my numbers for 6/27-7/4,

Miles 18.3
Time 4:04

Hope all are healing and Allie survived your trip (those youth groups can be brutal)!

I think it's exercise. I assume you were sore the next day, which would mean you gave your muscles a workout!

Jessica (Jessily) - Welcome. One thing to add about reporting Miles/time - you get to double your miles from any race you do.

Robyn - I'm so glad that you got good news!

Duane - I hope you are feeling better and get to use the bike next week.

Pat - I read your race report - that sounds amazing! Congrats on winning.

My Stats for the Week Ending July 3rd:
27 Miles
(Includes double miles for a 4 mile race I did)
3 Hours 50 Minutes

Today I start my training program for the Philly Marathon, so my miles will be getting much higher in the very near future!

Hi, everyone! We are back from our WDW/Disney cruise vacation. I didn't get in as many workouts as I'd hoped, but I do have the following to report for 6/27-7/3
320 minutes
8 miles

I'll do better this week. I promise! :)

Hi All,
Pat, forgot to mention, congratulations on the race. That sounded like such a cool race. And you WON!

I received clearance today to use the stationary bicycle! Can also walk on the treadmill. I am so excited

I'll have some numbers to report this week.

enjoy,
Duane

Do better! Come on Cam, how can you do better than a WDW/Cruise vacation! :yay: Maybe you can give us a quick report.

I can feel the eagerness in your writing Duane. Take care and get well.:cheer2:This is why this board keeps me inspired!

Congrats Duane! Good to hear that you are recovering.

Pat - I just read your race/trip report. How cool! Sounds like an amazing experience, and congratulations on winning:thumbsup2

Oh, Mike! You are so sweet to ask. God knows I could regale you guys for HOURS with tales of our fabulous trip!
We spent the first day at the Grand Floridian doing a tasting session for our vow renewal and then a planning session and cake tasting. I posted LOTS of delicious-looking pictures in my planning journal here on the DIS, JUST in case anyone wants to see:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1659796&page=50

We then spent a day in EPCOT and a day in MK, then boarded the Disney Wonder for a 4 night cruise that included 2 stops at Castaway Cay and 1 at Nassau.
Here are some of my favorite pix:

I think I can fairly say that my Mother in Law had a fabulous time (her first cruise ever), our kids had fun, and our friends that we were travelling with had a blast. I think we all returned home exhausted, but I've always thought "there's no sleeping in WDW [or on DCL]! I can sleep in Delaware!" :goodvibes

Thanks everyone - Alaska was fabulous!

Cam, your pics are wonderful; your family looks so relaxed and happy. I can't believe how much Andrew has grown! He's not the little boy Jim and I chatted with in DL just a couple of years ago.

I know, Pat! I am SHOCKED!! It was one thing when he got to be taller than me (that's not hard), but him being taller than Jenn just blows my mind! (Jenn was in 4 inch heels in that picture)

Cam - What a terrific picture of the family!

Duane - Great news that you're cleared for activity!

Totals for the week:

Miles: 33.65
Hours: 5:52

Jackie

Wow! Jackie, those totals rock!!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

I am kind of disappointed that all of my cross-training is really preventing me from racking up miles. 2 days a week I am working on upper body & core with a personal trainer and 2 days a week I am doing lower body strength training (which he assures me will ultimately improve my times). I haven't been running every day, like I wanted to because the PT said it could negatively impact weight loss, and suggested every other day, especially since I am trying to improve my times and my legs need rest.

Anyway, tonight is a 5k. I am looking forward to running since I haven't had time to run since Monday morning. I hope my legs and hips remember how it's done! :cool1:
