Can a 5 year old control the shooter enough to score a few points? My kids are so excited about going on this ride. At Paramount Canada's Wonderland they have a similar one with Scooby Doo that my 5 year old had a very hard time shooting with.

My DS5 usually scores somewhere between 1500 and 2500 points all by himself.

It's NOT alot of points but he looks at the 1st number (1 or 2 in his case) and then compares mine (4 or better) and declares

"I won, I beat you! I got 1st (or 2nd) and you came in 4th (5th etc...). LOVE that Logic.
My DH and I compete for a higher score, I'll have to use my son's reasoning this time.

Have fun, Buzz ride is great!!

Not having any experience riding Buzz with a 5 year old, but being a 5 year old at heart, myself..........I would venture to say that a 5 year should have no trouble operating the lazer in the ride..................

Sit back and enjoy....

We have been watching the vacation planning video and he has decided he wants to go on it 18 times:teeth:

My 3 year old rode it in February, and had a blast! She scored quite a few points each time we rode it. :)

be prepared....you probably will. we did it twice (would've done more if we'd been at MK for more than 1 day) and DS was 5 1/2 at the time.......he scored 146,600 his first time thru!! I was floored because I know there are only about 3 targets worth 100,000 each. He will have no problem shootin' on this ride, but I have to warn you that whoever he sits with, may fight over the joystick that turns the car.....DS wanted to do this, so I did it once, and he did it once. He scored more points when I steered the car and he didn't have to worry about the "driving"!! Go figure...

Paramount Kings Island is near me and we have the same Scooby Doo ride and I think it is more difficult than Buzz Lightyear - my nephew and niece rode this when they were 3 & 5 and had no problems!!!

It is one of my favorite rides at Disney - I can't remember where I read it but if you shoot at the back of Zurg as you leave the first room you get a ton of points - maybe you could find this tip somewhere and teach it to your kids!

I'm sure any 5-year-old can do better than me! But I love Buzz and keep riding.

my 3 year old, also, just rode it...well, I don't think he aimed at anything but the ceiling and ended up with 600 points, go figure.

you get points every so many shots(I think 100 points every 5 or 10 shots) whether you hit a target or not so they should at least score something as long as they hold the trigger down. However they will probably do better

I think there are 3-100,000 point targets in the ride. also, high and low and far away targets are worth more than the "easy" ones. also, moving targets are worth more. hold your fire button down thru the red, spiral light room....top of volcano is 100,000 pts...erupts when it's hit. also, when going thru tunnel and there doesn't seem to be any targets, hold your fire button down anyway, you will still score points. after u are leaving the first room, you need to turn your car (it will automatically turn you away from this target) 180 degrees to the huge orange robot behind you...aim for the back of his hand...worth 100,000. After the robot, look for creatures on the wall on your left. Spider on the wall is worth 50,000. In the room AFTER the red, spiral room (animated rockets), follow spaceships till they pause and aim for "z" ON them. -- look closely, see metal plate on wall (one each side), under animation--hitting those score 100,000 also. In the batttery room, hit batteries on bottom...they'll fall over if u hit them and some are worth 50,000...also, aim for small batteries=more points. When you pass the Rock 'em Sock 'em type robot on left, spin your car and hit the target on the back of the robot's left wrist...big points! When your ride is over, be sure to check the board on your left (while still in ride-car) to see your rank. For an excellent photo-op afterwards....climb in between the bars with Zurg! Have fun....it is totally awesome!!!!
