My favorite ride at Disneyland is Buzz Lightyear. Someone told me that you can score up to a million points at once if you shoot at the center of Zurg's chest in the second room. Does anyone know if this is true? Does anyone know exactly what the scoring scheme is?

There are lots of videos and cheat sheets out there. I've watched them and know what you are supposed to aim for but 500,000ish is still the most I've gotten, and most of the time way way way less than that. I hate those guns and I've about decided to give up on it until they do a refurb that detatches the guns. It's hard enough to even find my laser. One of the targets I know is the Z at the bottom of Zurg's ship. In one of the rooms, that is so low that I literally can not aim that far down with the attached gun. It is infuriating.

Not sure if you're asking about Buzz at Disneyland or Disney World. I know the WDW version has high-value targets (search the web for videos and such like the PP suggested), and the DL version probably has them as well but possibly not in the same places.

I believe so, sounds familiar and I've only ridden that one of the two.

Anyway, I'll search youtube for those videos. I've placed 1st on the scoreboard once, but that's only because the ride got stopped while I was shooting at a triangle.

I got 999,999 once, but no idea what I hit to get there. I think that's what motivated me to find the easter egg-type targets with all the points.

The one on Zurg's chest is only 100,000 points. Because of it's low location, you only have about a total of 5 seconds to hit it. You can still manage to clean up pretty nicely if you hit a few times.

As PPs have said, the best thing to do is to look at the Buzz Strategy videos on You Tube.

I know one big target at WDW is shooting the target on the inside of the left arm of the robot on the left side of the first room you enter. It's pretty easy to hit and it's worth 100,000 pts. each hit. There's so much other stuff going on, that it isn't the first place people look to shoot out of the gate. My DD9 was blown away when I got 999,999 the first time and begged me for the secret.

One thing I learned is that if you hit 999,999 in your car, you're still racking up points. I did that and on the scoreboard I had 1.78 million and was #1. (At least, I was #1 for a short while...)

Oh, and at DL, that robot is on the RIGHT side of the room...

At DisneyWorld, if you max out at 999,999, make sure you tell a CM at the photo counter in the gift shop as you leave the ride. I'll leave it at that (it can be a different experience depending on the CM.
